Video resurfaces of Trump struggling to vote in person in 2004 as he ramps up attacks on mail-in voting
The “Obtain Hollywood” phase, filmed as Trump was attempting to vote in the 2004 election, exhibits Trump along with Television set host Billy Bush visiting various New York Town polling locations. Trump, even so, is blocked from voting at just about every location since he is not on any of the voter rolls at just about every cease.

Trump can be viewed turning into progressively annoyed just before declaring, “I am heading to fill out the absentee ballot.”

The section ends with Trump filling out what Bush describes as a provisional ballot in his automobile.

“I just voted,” Trump touted. “At the very least you can say the Trumpster doesn’t give up.”

The 16-calendar year-old video clip has circulated on social media and obtained new focus in the wake of the President’s ongoing assaults on mail-in voting.
Those assaults, which usually just take a partisan tinge as the President has stated he thinks his celebration would be harm by mail-in voting, escalated on Thursday to the point that Trump floated delaying the election — some thing he can not lawfully do.

“With Common Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is very good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in historical past. It will be a great embarrassment to the United states,” Trump tweeted Thursday. “Delay the Election until people today can thoroughly, securely and securely vote???”

For the duration of a news convention afterwards in the day, Trump was asked to make clear his motivations. At to start with, he instructed he was hoping to keep away from a drawn-out counting procedure that might stretch for days or weeks if big quantities of voters solid ballots by mail. But he eventually acknowledged his allegations could sow uncertainties about what ever final result emerges in November.

“What people today are now wanting at is … are all these stories appropriate about the simple fact that these elections will be fraudulent, they’re going to be fastened, rigged,” he said.

“All people is seeking at it,” Trump included. “A whole lot of persons are expressing that in all probability will occur.”

In truth, there is no proof that mail-in voting leads to fraud. While rare circumstances of voter fraud from mail-in ballots do arise, it is nowhere in close proximity to a common dilemma in the US election method. The most current instance of fraud from mail-in ballots took area in the 2018 midterm elections in a race where by a GOP activist in North Carolina was accused of a number of felonies in relationship to questionable absentee ballot action in a congressional race on behalf of the Republican candidate.
Mail ballot fraud is exceedingly uncommon in portion mainly because states have units and procedures in place to reduce forgery, theft and voter fraud. These methods would use to both absentee ballots and mail-in ballots for in-condition voters.

Moreover, the President’s distinction among mail-in voting and absentee voting has baffled industry experts who say people voting units are in essence the same detail.

“No-excuse mail voting or absentee voting — whichever you call it — is fundamentally the similar factor,” David Becker, founder of the nonpartisan Centre for Election Innovation and Research, previously informed CNN. “You ask for a ballot, you get a ballot, you vote, you mail it in, and there are protections in position. It does not matter whether you get in touch with it mail voting or absentee voting. It truly is the identical matter.”

CNN’s Marshall Cohen, Tara Subramaniam, Holmes Lybrand, Kevin Liptak and Betsy Klein contributed to this report.

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.

According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”

In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.

In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.

From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.

Then, at the second concert, in the company of the Mexican clarinetist Angel Zedillo, he will perform the Louis Sfora Concerto No. 2. In this concert, the maestro also conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.

“This is an international recognition of my work. An invitation that I accept with humility and great responsibility. I was surprised to learn that I would be the first Portuguese member of the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. This is a very great honor,” the maestro said in a statement.

“I take with me the name of the city of Braga and Portugal with all the responsibility that goes with it, and I hope to do a good job there, leaving a good image and putting on great concerts. These will be very special concerts because, in addition to performing pieces that I love, especially Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, I will be directing two wonderful soloists who are also my friends. It will be very beautiful,” concludes Filipe Cunha.
