This Monday, July 18, Altice Arena hosted the famous Scorpions.

With a full house, but not a full house, the performance started at 21:15. A concert integrated into the Rock Believer World Tour 2022 featuring a line-up that mixes the band’s greatest hits with themes from the new album.

This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the band’s first album. scorpionsdated January 22, 1972, titled “The Lonely Crow”.

In Lisbon, the group consisting of Rudolf Schenker, Klaus Meine, Matthias Jabs, Pavel Macivoda and Mickey Dee were in great shape and dominated the whole show with a very mature performance.

The visuals and sounds clearly set the show apart, creating different emotional tones in the concert and adding to the musical quality that the Scorpions have trained their fans to enjoy since their inception in the 60s.

Before the start of the show, the stage was covered with two large curtains. One with the name of the band and the other with the message “Are you ready to rock?”. Both curtains “dropped” as soon as the concert began, so that the entire audience could see the band and their performance.

After the opening “Gas in The Tank”, the Portuguese flag was projected onto a screen on stage for the first chords of “Make it real” and the audience already responded very well and gave in to the energy that the band conveyed for almost two hours.

The vocalist’s first words were in very legible Portuguese: “Good night, Lisbon. How are you?”, then we move on to communicating in English, but understandable to the entire audience. If you didn’t understand, at least you responded positively to all interactions.

“Zoo”, “From Coast to Coast”, “Seventh Sun”, “Peacemaker” (the first single from the band’s latest album), “Bad Boys Running Free” and “Gentle Dance” were the next topics, always with the group reacted very well and with full energy.

However, two great moments followed with “Send me na angel” and “Wind of change”. The audience sang both songs in unison, highlighting the second with a tribute to Ukraine. It was cold to see the whole Altice Arena with mobile phones on, creating a starry sky and putting their whole soul into the voices of the thousands who were there.

The rhythm picked up again with “Tease me please me” and “Rock Believer” followed by an extraordinary drum solo.

“Blackout” and “Big city nights” preceded the encore, after which the band returned to the stage to finally close the concert with “Still love you” and “Rock you like a urricane”.

A summer night that was even hotter at the Altice Arena as the Scorpions once again conquered the Portuguese public.

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.

According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”

In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.

In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.

From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.

Then, at the second concert, in the company of the Mexican clarinetist Angel Zedillo, he will perform the Louis Sfora Concerto No. 2. In this concert, the maestro also conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.

“This is an international recognition of my work. An invitation that I accept with humility and great responsibility. I was surprised to learn that I would be the first Portuguese member of the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. This is a very great honor,” the maestro said in a statement.

“I take with me the name of the city of Braga and Portugal with all the responsibility that goes with it, and I hope to do a good job there, leaving a good image and putting on great concerts. These will be very special concerts because, in addition to performing pieces that I love, especially Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, I will be directing two wonderful soloists who are also my friends. It will be very beautiful,” concludes Filipe Cunha.
