Sabers fans rejoiced at shooting GM Jason Botterill

The Sabers announced Tuesday morning that general manager Jason Botterill was fired after three years with the organization – and Buffalo fans rejoiced.

Owner Terry Pegula then promoted senior vice president of business administration and former NHLer Kevyn Adams became general manager, making him the third GM Saber in the past six years.

“This morning, we told Jason Botterill that he would no longer be Saber General Manager,” the Pegula family said in a statement. “This decision was made after many open discussions with Jason during a full review of our hockey operations. We recognize that we have philosophical differences regarding the best way to put ourselves in a position to compete for the Stanley Cup. So, we decided to make this change.

“We hope Jason and his family all move forward, and we thank him for the time and energy devoted to our organization and to the City of Buffalo.”

Botterill, 44, added the pre-existing foundations of Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart with Rasmus Dahlin, Casey Mittelstadt, but made several decisions that many Buffalo fans said were questioned. He famously sent Ryan O’Reilly to St. Louis in 2018, only to advance to lead the Blues to the Stanley Cup the following season, bringing home the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP postseason and Selke Trophy, awarded to the most talented attackers.

Sabers fans think about it on Tuesday:

Some cannot resist their excitement:

The Sabers, who joined the NHL in 1970, have never won the Stanley Cup. 49 years without a title only lagged at the Toronto Maple Leafs for 51 years because of league misfortune. The franchise is in nine league-high seasons without a playoff appearance. Team president Kim Pegula had told the Associated Press last month that Botterill, a one-time Saber winger, would return for the 2020-21 season, but something had changed in that range.

Eichel, who chose No. 2 in the 2015 draft and the team captain, 23, recently commented on team management that might have something to do with seemingly sudden decisions.

“I talked to both of them [head coach] Throw up [Krueger] and Jason about it and they understand frustration and they are also frustrated, “Eichel said last week.” I’m not the only guy who did it, I might have expressed my opinion a little more outspokenly but just how it happened. “

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.

According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”

In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.

In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.

From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.

Then, at the second concert, in the company of the Mexican clarinetist Angel Zedillo, he will perform the Louis Sfora Concerto No. 2. In this concert, the maestro also conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.

“This is an international recognition of my work. An invitation that I accept with humility and great responsibility. I was surprised to learn that I would be the first Portuguese member of the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. This is a very great honor,” the maestro said in a statement.

“I take with me the name of the city of Braga and Portugal with all the responsibility that goes with it, and I hope to do a good job there, leaving a good image and putting on great concerts. These will be very special concerts because, in addition to performing pieces that I love, especially Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, I will be directing two wonderful soloists who are also my friends. It will be very beautiful,” concludes Filipe Cunha.
