Liverpool won the English Premier League for the first time in club history
For many years in the wilderness, some people were almost wretched and, right when Jurgen Klopp and his men six points from securing the club’s first league title in 30 years, a global pandemic stop the procession this season.

But the return of football in England earlier this month after a 100-day absence revived a title offer that was only doubted when the season was stopped.

After Liverpool’s impressive 4-0 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday, Manchester City need to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday to delay the coronation. But the defending champions’ failure to claim three points – City were beaten 2-1 in London – ended the wait. Pep Guardiola’s team must now carry on the crown.

Liverpool, a team that previously won 18 league titles but have not existed since 1990, has now won the English Premier League for the first time, bringing it into a title that equals Manchester United’s record of 20 first division titles.

Despite restrictions locked in England, Liverpool fans won’t be able to celebrate as they had imagined a few months ago. Who knows when it will be safe to parade through the city?

But the muted celebration did not mask the enormity of the achievement. What Klopp and his team have achieved is extraordinary. Defeated just once, Liverpool have become the dominant team this season. The Merseysiders lead City in second place with 23 points and, at the end of the campaign, can collect a total record of 107 points.

When Klopp joined the club in October 2015, Liverpool finished 10th, struggling to score and collecting 12 points from eight matches. There are richer teams, better teams, at EPL. The thought of winning another league title seemed strange.

“We have to change from doubters to believers,” Klopp said in his first interview as Liverpool boss. It was a statement that raised eyebrows, but that also gave the club a huge fanbase energy. Few can imagine, however, that club progress will be made under charismatic Germany.

Liverpool fans celebrate their team winning the Premier League title outside Anfield.
There are many expensive players; record the fees for the keeper and a defender, but even before the purchase was made, Klopp’s tactics had made progress. Now, there is no team in this country that plays with such intensity and energy. He has the best defense in the league, a triad of hypnotic attackers and a tireless midfield.
In every season except the first, the manager has directed his team to the Champions League, reached the final twice, and every player under his care has improved, from academy graduates like Trent Alexander-Arnold, to more shocking players like Mo Wrong and Andy Robertson. There are several pins.
And, finally, after three failures in the cup final, Liverpool won the first trophy under Klopp last season, when the team defeated Tottenham at Champions League Final.

It was a victory that strengthened the fans’ confidence in the team, allaying fears that this was an almost-male squad, because Liverpool also that season almost lost the title by one point, despite collecting a club record total of 97.

That Liverpool will bounce back from such suffering to win the title next season in a cruel way is the testimony of the team that Klopp built. But, as the man himself said, the players he had gathered were “monsters of mentality.”

Klopp has the right to be considered the best manager in the history of this multilevel club. It is not without reason that many liken it to Bill Shankly, a former manager who rebuilt the club in the 1960s and laid the foundation for what became a football dynasty in the next two decades.

“He is extraordinary and symbolizes everything the club has,” Kenny Dalglish, the last manager to guide Liverpool to the title, told BT Sport after Christian Puisic’s attack and Willian’s penalty sealed Chelsea’s victory.

“This is not just one time because last year they arrived on time. Going up and up and, I think, we have more happy days to look forward to while Jurgen is there.”

Liverpool is a club that has enjoyed a lot of success, but nothing in its glorious past compared to the extraordinary season produced by this extraordinary team.

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.

According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”

In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.

In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.

From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.

Then, at the second concert, in the company of the Mexican clarinetist Angel Zedillo, he will perform the Louis Sfora Concerto No. 2. In this concert, the maestro also conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.

“This is an international recognition of my work. An invitation that I accept with humility and great responsibility. I was surprised to learn that I would be the first Portuguese member of the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. This is a very great honor,” the maestro said in a statement.

“I take with me the name of the city of Braga and Portugal with all the responsibility that goes with it, and I hope to do a good job there, leaving a good image and putting on great concerts. These will be very special concerts because, in addition to performing pieces that I love, especially Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, I will be directing two wonderful soloists who are also my friends. It will be very beautiful,” concludes Filipe Cunha.
