Coronavirus is weak, can disappear by itself: Italian doctor

An Italian contagious doctor believes that coronaviruses become less dangerous – and can disappear by themselves without a vaccine.

Matteo Bassetti, head of the infectious disease clinic at the San Martino hospital, said the virus appeared to be less strong, possibly due to genetic mutations, Sunday Telegraph reports.

“The clinical impression I have is that this virus changes in severity,” Bassetti told the outlet.

“In March and early April the pattern was very different. People come to the emergency room with a disease that is very difficult to manage and they need oxygen and ventilation, some pneumonia develops. “

But he said in the past month, “the picture has really changed in terms of patterns.”

“It’s like an aggressive tiger in March and April, but now it’s like a stray cat,” Bassetti said. “Even elderly patients, aged 80 or 90 years, now sit on the bed and they breathe without assistance. The same patient will die in the previous two or three days. “

He said one of the reasons why the virus became weaker was because the virus mutated in response to social distance measures.

“I think the virus has mutated because our immune system reacts to the virus and we have a lower viral load now because it’s locked, wearing a mask, social distance,” he said. “We still have to show why it’s different now.”

It is possible that the virus will be destroyed before researchers find a vaccine, he said.

“We have fewer and fewer people infected and that could end up with a dying virus,” Bassetti said.

But other experts were less optimistic about the prospect of the virus disappearing soon, saying it would take years, the outlet reported.

“I didn’t expect it to die so quickly,” Dr. Bharat Pankhania, a professor at Exeter University School of Medicine in England, according to the report.

“That will happen if no one infects. If we have a successful vaccine, we will be able to do what we do with smallpox. But because it is very contagious and spread, it won’t disappear for a very long time. “

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.

According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”

In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.

In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.

From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.
