Andrew Toles Dodgers was arrested after sleeping behind the Florida airport

Andrew Toles’s once promising career has turned into a sad story that made him move from a major league player to homeless and now behind bars.

On Monday, the former Dodger was found asleep behind the Federal Express building at Key West Airport in Florida, according to the Miami Herald. After being given several opportunities by the police to move, he did not want to and was arrested on June 22, charged with a minor offense for violations. His address was listed as “sightseeing in Key West” and all he had was a black book bag, police said.

It was a sad fall from where Toles was in 2016, the Dodgers started playing left-back in the playoffs. That was enough years, Toles went from Single-A to the big league despite struggling with depression and anxiety, as described by NBC LA. But his career fell from there. He tore his ACL in 2017 and didn’t play much in 2018 when he tried to come back from injury. Toles, a .286 hitter career with a major, did not appear for spring training in 2019 and left the organization in May for personal reasons, according to the report. He is still on the Dodgers limited list.

“He isn’t perfect, and he starts dealing with crippling anxiety,” Pedro Maura from The Athletic wrote in 2018. “He has trouble sleeping. Regularly, he arrived late to the ballpark and made a mental error on the pitch, and he regularly heard from manager Jared Sandberg. “

He spent time working in the grocery store and afterwards in a mental health facility, before finding a new home with the Dodgers. But now, at the age of 28, Toles may have hit rock bottom. He has a court date set for July 2, the Miami Herald reported, and may not have a place to stay every time he exits the Stock Island Detention Center.

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.

According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”

In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.

In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.

From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.

Then, at the second concert, in the company of the Mexican clarinetist Angel Zedillo, he will perform the Louis Sfora Concerto No. 2. In this concert, the maestro also conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.

“This is an international recognition of my work. An invitation that I accept with humility and great responsibility. I was surprised to learn that I would be the first Portuguese member of the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. This is a very great honor,” the maestro said in a statement.

“I take with me the name of the city of Braga and Portugal with all the responsibility that goes with it, and I hope to do a good job there, leaving a good image and putting on great concerts. These will be very special concerts because, in addition to performing pieces that I love, especially Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, I will be directing two wonderful soloists who are also my friends. It will be very beautiful,” concludes Filipe Cunha.
