The film exhibition, curated by Ana Vaz Migleiro, Ines Lima Rodriguez and Jorge Figueira and coordinated by Rui Leao, will be part of the 27th International Congress of Architects (UIA2021RIO) and the 30th anniversary of CIALP and will feature works from eight workshops. territories: Brazil, Cape Verde, Goa, Guinea-Bissau, Macau, Mozambique, Portugal and Sao Tome and Principe.
“The choice of the atelier was the result of a design competition launched by local associations and commissioned by curators. The film follows different design and living experiences with direct testimony from architects. In different homes, we see everyday life flowing through architecture before and during the pandemic, ”says a statement from Camões – Centro Cultural Português in Brasilia, which supports the project.
The exhibition film offers experiences in architecture, from studios committed to social practices that integrate local building models, artistic sensibilities and disciplinary knowledge of architecture.
“Sociability” and “everyday life” are the keywords of the film script, which reflects the specific relevance of each context reflected in the housing program, individual or collective.
“In the film, the architects talk to us and show us different points of view on this place. We have heard varied and contrasting voices placed in the cinematic chorus, dialogues that testify to the current challenges facing the architecture of the house: adaptation to new features, health, sustainability, ”says Camões’ communiqué.
With regard to the housing projects presented, three questions arise: “Will the house, turned into a workplace, change to a different name? How do you live / work in these houses? What is it like to live and work during a pandemic? ”
In this sense, the film presents testimony, “sometimes moving”, from the eight territories that make up the CIALP experience and 11 projects, architects seeking answers.
“Architecture in Portuguese – New Dialogues” puts different geographical locations and contexts in a relationship and perspective, where one can see how architecture can be a privileged way of solving and ultimately overcoming social and sanitary conditions, economic and political constraints of these in different parts of the world, ”the note says.
Thus, it is a narrative of “our time, gripped by the uncertainty of the present,” the document concludes.
The exhibition film is a production of “Cedro Plátano”, created from materials submitted by selected ateliers, with editing and post-production by Joana Linda and Renata Sancho, original music and a mixture of Philip Lenzini and graphic design by vivóeusébio.
