Accountants accuse Michael Cohen of 'deprivation of extortion money'

An accounting firm that Michael Cohen is accused of screwing up his tax returns has hit back – saying the tax fraudster convicted of making “extortion cash extortion” when he sued the company, according to new court papers.

Accountant Jeffrey Getzel charged in the Manhattan Supreme Court newspaper that Cohen could only blame himself for his legal woes, “but now [Cohen] wants the world to believe he is an innocent soul who fell in difficult times just because his accountant failed and betrayed him. Former “fixer” President Trump filed a lawsuit in March against Getzel and his company Getzel Schiff & Pesce LLC claimed their accounting errors in tax returns from 2012 to 2016 caused him to unknowingly fail to report $ 4 million in revenue resulting in avoidance of criminal tax charges, said the letter courtroom letters.

Specifically, he claimed an accountant failed to identify Cohen’s tax obligations for the income he received from a private loan he lent to the so-called “taxi king” Gene Friedman and other Chicago taxi operators.

But Getzel replied to court letters, attempting to drop the lawsuit and argued that “the problem solver was eventually corrected and pleaded guilty to nine criminal charges against the law, five of which were for tax fraud.”

“Cohen’s success can be attributed to one person and only one person: Cohen himself,” the court documents claim.

While Cohen rejected charges of tax fraud, he “liked others in his position who blamed hard working professionals who did their jobs well,” the court said.

Getzel argues that the lawsuit should never have been filed, “But, because Cohen tried to file this suit from prison, in what can only be described as deprivation of extortion money, the Defendant is moving to dismissal,” the court paper said.

Cohen is currently serving a sentence of three years after acknowledging tax charges, violating campaign funds, and lying to Congress. He was released from prison and placed in a confinement house last month because of coronavirus problems.

Lawyers for Cohen and Getzel did not immediately return requests for comment.

Method Media Bermuda will present the documentary FABRIC: Portuguese History in Bermuda on Thursday, December 29 at the Underwater Research Institute of Bermuda.

A spokesperson said: “Method Media is proud to bring Bermuda Fabric: Portugal History to Bermuda for its 5th and 6th showing at the Bermuda Underwater Observatory. In November and December 2019, Cloth: A Portuguese Story in Bermuda had four sold-out screenings. Now that Bermuda has reopened after the pandemic, it’s time to bring the film back for at least two screenings.

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.

According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”

In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.

In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.

From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.

Then, at the second concert, in the company of the Mexican clarinetist Angel Zedillo, he will perform the Louis Sfora Concerto No. 2. In this concert, the maestro also conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.
