Vodafone and Meo must define 4G coverage in 100 counties by June 2022 - O Jornal Económico

Vodafone and Meo must, by June 30, 2022, agree on the distribution of incomes, which they will have to cover in 100 parishes, in after the renewal of the rights to use the frequencies of the two operators in the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz bands (important for the fourth generation of the mobile network, known as 4G), until 2033.

Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações (Anacom) decided in early May to extend the frequency rights for two telecommunications in the above. But he defined the responsibility of these operators to reach 100 low-density parishes with mobile broadband service at a minimum speed of 100 Mbps (megabits per second). Of the 100 parishes, Meo will have to serve 56 parishes, and Vodafone – 44 parishes.

Well Anacom confirmed, now, license renewals, as well as a one-year period for the two telecommunications companies to reach an agreement on the distribution of the receipts they will have to cover. The decision was discussed with the public for 20 days, with the regulator receiving applications from Meo, NOS and Vodafone, as well as from three citizens, the consumer association IUS OMNIBUS, nine parish councils and Apritel.

“According to the terms of the decision, Anacom, MEO and Vodafone must agree among themselves by June 30, 2022, the distribution of the revenues that they will have to cover, and inform Anacom about the decision. Each operator cannot select a district in which they already have certain coverage obligations arising from a multi-band auction. [de 2011] or DUF renewal [direitos de utilização de frequências] relative to 2.1 GHz, ”the regulator said in a statement.

The result of the agreement will be ratified by Anacom. However, if no agreement is reached within the specified period, the regulator should “decide on the distribution of receipts by the indicated operators, using for this purpose a random sample of receipts, thereby realizing the geographical scope of the coverage of obligations that become an integral part of the names embodying the rights to use of frequencies “.

From the date of approval or the result of the draw by the regulators, Vodafone and Meo will have one year to fulfill their commitment to reach one hundred parishes.

Anacom also reiterates that it has identified additional coverage obligations in these 100 counties because “the investments made by the operators did not have the same impact across the country,” so the regulator says it is “important to maintain coverage. goals of territories with a lower population density ”.

“Since a group of low-density parishes is already included in the commitments contained in the 5G Auction regulation, there are now 100 lower-density parishes that are not included in this regulation,” he says.

The first Dacia hybrid. "The cheapest hybrid family on the market"

BUT Dacia revealed this Monday that the hybrid engine has been available since March on the Jogger, the Romanian brand’s model known to be available with a seven-seat variant.

The Jogger Hybrid 140, Dacia’s first hybrid, will hit dealerships in March, but customers can expect and order it as early as January.

The price has been revealed by Dacia and since it’s only available in the seven-seater SL Extreme, it starts at €28,800. The brand claims it is “the most affordable hybrid family car on the market.”

Available in six existing colors to celebrate the launch of this hybrid, there will be a slate gray version, as you can see in the images above.

Equipped with a 1.6 liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 90 hp, the Jogger is also powered by two electric motors (a 50 hp engine and a high-voltage starter-generator). The total power is 140 horsepower. The electric transmission is automatic, four-speed, connected to an internal combustion engine, and two speeds are connected to an electric motor. This combined technology was possible, according to Dacia, only due to the lack of clutch.

Combined with the energy recovery levels of the 1.2kWh (230V) battery pack and the efficiency of the automatic transmission, regenerative braking delivers all-electric traction on 80% of urban journeys and saves up to 40% of fuel compared to a combustion engine vehicle.
