Under a strong security system, the PT candidate for President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, participates this Friday (16) in the center of Porto Alegre in the political action “Together for Rio Grande do Sul”.

The rally starts at 17:00 at Largo Glenio Perez. Also present at the event are the PT candidate for the Gaucho government Edegar Pretto, the vice presidential candidate Pedro Ruas (PSOL) and the senatorial candidate Olivio Dutra (PT), as well as social movements and trade union leaders.

This is the second time the former president has come to Rio Grande do Sul this year. The first was in early June when Lula was in Porto Alegre with Geraldo Alkmin (PSB), a candidate for vice president. On this occasion, they participated in a political action at a party house in front of the Salgado Filho airport.

political violence

In an interview on Thursday evening (15) at Montes Claros (MG), Lula complained about the political violence, which he said had “taken over the country” and motivated militants not to react or clash.

“I have never seen such violence as today in Brazil. I have never seen hatred planted in the squares, in families, among people who no longer speak. It didn’t exist,” PT said.
