The Federal Senate Plenary on Wednesday afternoon (27) approved a request that formalizes a request for Senator Tasso Jereissati’s (PSDB) license from Ceará. The congressman will spend about four months away from office – from October 29 (Friday) to February 26, 2022.

Tasso’s license will cause the Senate to summon the first deputy, who is Chihinho Feitosa (DEM), who is in Brasilia and oversees the entire process.

After the end of the CPI pandemic, where he played a conciliatory role in the final stretch, Tasso is suspending parliamentary activities to revive the political agenda. The Senator from Ceara is one of the most outspoken supporters of the nomination of the Governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, at the Palacio do Planalto in 2022.

This weekend, Tasso will be accompanying Leyte in at least three capitals, north and northeast, on the first round of visits from the state of Rio Grande do Sul, seeking to enlist the help of toucans from different Brazilian states to conduct caucuses to which the Governor of San Paulo Joao Doria.

Eduardo Leite’s northeast schedule will start in Natal as early as Friday (29) morning, but Tasso won’t. In the afternoon, they meet in Terezin to meet with fellow believers in Piauí.

On the same day, but at night, they will travel to San Luis with the same goal: to find the state toucans in search of official support from the Governor of Rio Grande do Sul.

On Saturday morning, Tasso returns to accompany Eduardo, this time in Belene, Pará. After that, Leite goes to Palmas, in Tocantins, this time without Tasso.

Greatest leader Ceara toucanato seeks to make the young governor of Rio Grande do Sul the winner in the preliminary rounds of the party, and then on the way to his candidacy.

In parallel, Tasso will restructure PSDB in Ceará. The party currently has a senator, federal deputy, two state members, four mayors, seven deputy mayors, and 63 councilors.

Tasso will speak with supporters about the 2022 scenario in which the party should develop an election strategy. Tasso recently announced that he would not be able to run for re-election to the Senate next year. So it will be vital to organize a party for the upcoming elections.

BRUSSELS, DECEMBER 19 (ANSA). European Union countries reached a political agreement on Monday (19) to impose a natural gas price ceiling of 180 euros per megawatt hour (MWh). The main sources of income for Russia and the minimization of the use of energy as a weapon by the regime of Vladimir Putin.

The agreement was approved by a supermajority at a ministerial meeting of member states in Brussels, Belgium, after months of discussions about the best way to contain the rise in natural gas prices in the bloc caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. .

The value set by the countries is well below the proposal made by the European Commission, the EU’s executive body, in November: 275 EUR/MWh. However, the countries leading the cap campaign were in favor of an even lower limit, around 100 EUR/MWh.

Germany, always wary of price controls, voted in favor of 180 euros, while Austria and the Netherlands, also skeptical of the cap, abstained. Hungary, the most pro-Russian country in the EU, voted against.

The instrument will enter into force on 15 February, but only if natural gas prices on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange exceed 180 euros/MWh for three consecutive days. In addition, the difference compared to a number of global benchmarks should be more than 35 euros.

Italy, the EU’s biggest supporter of the ceiling, has claimed responsibility for the measure. “This is a victory for Italy, which believed and worked for us to reach this agreement,” Environment and Energy Minister Gilberto Picetto tweeted.
