Boavista announced this Sunday that he has struck a friendly deal with coach Jesualdo Ferreira, who will lead the team in December 2020. According to the newspaper “O Jogo”, he was replaced in the technical team by the Portuguese João Pedro Sousa, ex-Famalicão.
Jesualdo Ferreira’s work was interrupted after 25 matches. Meanwhile, there were seven wins, seven draws, eleven defeats and 48% success. In addition, the team scored 29 goals and conceded 34.
Despite the fact that Boavista saved Boavista from relegation, the team never had the “spirit” to fight for a place in the Europa League. The checkered team finished the Liga NOS in 13th place with 36 points.
However, Jesualdo Ferreira was heavily criticized throughout his tenure and was eventually fired from Boavista by club president Vitor Murta. However, a coach should not be out of work for long. After all, he has a market outside Portugal.
Throughout his career, the coach has gained momentum for clubs in Spain, Greece, Brazil, Morocco, Egypt and Qatar. Meanwhile, he commanded Malaga, Panathinaikos, Santos, FAR Rabat, Zamalek SC and Al-Sadd, where he is highly respected.
In Portugal, to give an example, Jesualdo Ferreira successfully passed through Porto where he won the Portuguese Championship (2006/2007, 2007/2008 and 2008/2009), the Portuguese Cup (2008/2009 and 2009/2010) and the Portuguese Super Cup (2009/2010 ).
new technician
Angolan João Pedro Sousa is Boavista’s new coach. It has been available in the market after being fired from Famalikan last season. The coach comes to the club after serving as assistant coach for Portugal, England and Olympiacos.
Meanwhile, João Pedro Sousa has worked as an assistant to Marco Silva at Everton, Watford, Hull City, Olympiacos, Sporting, Estoril Praia and Braga. It is worth remembering that last year he got his first experience as a coach at Famalikan.
