The NFL expects coronavirus cases to emerge when reopening starts

The NFL does not expect to stop coronavirus.

Several facilities around the league, in the state where it was permitted by the government, reopened Tuesday for a limited number of employees – who underwent daily temperature checks. Coaches and most players (exceptions to injury treatment that began before the close of March 25) are prohibited from returning even to open sites.

“Everyone who is around each other in a football environment will share risks and share general exposure,” said NFL chief medical officer, Dr. Allen Sills. “We fully hope that we will have positive cases that emerge, because we think this disease will remain endemic in the community, so it is not surprising that new positive cases arise. Our challenge is to identify them as quickly as possible and prevent spread. “

The Giants and Jet facilities remain closed under New Jersey’s orders. There is concern among coaches that an uneven playing field can be created if some teams are allowed to bring staff and players back in front of others.

“Competitive issues are always important, and they are always seen as a way to try to maintain fair treatment for all 32 clubs,” said NFL chief adviser Jeff Pash. “Of course our aim is to try to have all 32 clubs operate safely [simultaneously]. “

NFL minicamps scheduled for June can be held almost – like the current OTA – because Sills said science and technology will determine returning to the field rather than the NFL calendar.

“You can imagine competitive advantage,” one NFL coach told The Post. “As long as all 32 teams are doing the same thing, there is no great anxiety to change things. We first dealt with a pandemic that killed thousands of Americans. “

Kusen expects “very rapid evolution” in testing methods before the training camp is scheduled to begin in late July.

“We want to ensure that we in no way affect the supply of tests needed by the health care system in our markets throughout the country at large,” Sills said.

Rooney’s rules for ensuring diversity are broadened Tuesday: Teams must now interview at least two external minority candidates for head coach vacancies, at least one minority for one of three coordinator vacancies and at least one external minority for senior soccer operations / general manager positions.

The NFL submitted a proposal to reward teams with better mid-round placement positions to employ minorities as head coaches or GMs. Commissioner Roger Goodell said “there was a lot of support” from the team owner but also feedback on how to strengthen it.

Teams can no longer block coaches under contract positions from interviews for vacancies by other team coordinators. All previous assistant work is gathered together, limiting upward mobility.

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.

According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”

In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.

In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.

From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.

Then, at the second concert, in the company of the Mexican clarinetist Angel Zedillo, he will perform the Louis Sfora Concerto No. 2. In this concert, the maestro also conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.

“This is an international recognition of my work. An invitation that I accept with humility and great responsibility. I was surprised to learn that I would be the first Portuguese member of the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. This is a very great honor,” the maestro said in a statement.

“I take with me the name of the city of Braga and Portugal with all the responsibility that goes with it, and I hope to do a good job there, leaving a good image and putting on great concerts. These will be very special concerts because, in addition to performing pieces that I love, especially Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, I will be directing two wonderful soloists who are also my friends. It will be very beautiful,” concludes Filipe Cunha.
