The NBA 22-team restart plan puts the Nets playoffs at risk

The Knicks will not join the Nets in Orlando. But the Nets can still join the Knicks in the lottery.

The 22 teams’ proposal to restart the season which is expected to be approved Thursday by the Board of Governors has made the Nets playoff plan a little more dangerous than the other 22 team’s scenario.

In one version of the 22-team proposal, the Nets will not have a chance at the play-in event. In that scenario, six non-playoff seeds will hold an eight-team play-in tournament with two seeded No.s. 8. Nets will be safely tucked into No. 7

But the NBA will be far more complicated with the extensive restart at Disney World which will feature eight regular-season matches per team involved starting July 31. The Nets can play alone from that, though it will probably take 2-6 performances.

Eight regular matches of the season will make Kevin Durant – and Kyrie Irving – return a bit more feasible. This will give Durant more time leading into the playoffs. Thursday is the one-year anniversary when Durant tears his Achilles tendon during the NBA Finals.

On July 31, Durant will be out almost 14 months. Irving will be out in five months.

The net is concerned about Durant’s Achilles rehabilitation being too badly interrupted.

In March, Durant did a 5-on-5 soccer exercise with Nets bench players and player development coaches, which was the final stage of his return. But the pandemic kept him out of court for more than two months while he was building.

The Nets president, Sean Marks, left it open but gave instructions in his final interview earlier this month when he said he couldn’t wait to see him play in Brooklyn. However, in the end, the decision will be with KD.

Meanwhile, the Nets might not even make a playoff for KD returns. The Nets (30-34) lead No. 8 Orlando with half the game. The Wizards are ninth – 5½ matches from the 8th seed.

If the Nets fall to eighth after eight games in the regular season and the Wizards are in four matches from the last playoff place, a play-in will result between the Nets and the Wizards. The 8th seed will have the advantage, it needs to win once while the Wizards must win twice.

The Nets haven’t fared well with the Wizards this season, losing twice, and they are expected to face one of the regular season contests.

With the Nets all-in winning the title in 2021, the lottery spot would not be the absolute worst case scenario if it didn’t make a playoff during the restart is a formula that the NBA will definitely use to fill in the remaining lottery fields.

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.

According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”

In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.

In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.

From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.

Then, at the second concert, in the company of the Mexican clarinetist Angel Zedillo, he will perform the Louis Sfora Concerto No. 2. In this concert, the maestro also conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.

“This is an international recognition of my work. An invitation that I accept with humility and great responsibility. I was surprised to learn that I would be the first Portuguese member of the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. This is a very great honor,” the maestro said in a statement.

“I take with me the name of the city of Braga and Portugal with all the responsibility that goes with it, and I hope to do a good job there, leaving a good image and putting on great concerts. These will be very special concerts because, in addition to performing pieces that I love, especially Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, I will be directing two wonderful soloists who are also my friends. It will be very beautiful,” concludes Filipe Cunha.
