US tech company PagerDuty chose Lisbon to open its first European office because the Portuguese capital offers access to highly specialized talent, CEO Jennifer Tejada told Lusa.
“We chose Lisbon because of the talent in the local market. The universities are fantastic, ”said the CEO of PagerDuty, a California-based digital operations management company.

By the end of 2022, the company plans to hire 100 professionals in software development, programming, financial management and operations.
“We are very excited about Lisbon, we think it will be a place that will help us attract a diverse and talented group of people to support the growth of PagerDuty and its customers,” Tejada said.
The opening of the Lisbon office will pave the way for local operations in Europe, where PagerDuty already has customers and has seen rapid growth lately.
“Europe is one of the fastest growing regions, so this is very important for us. We have a business that grew 41% in revenues in the last quarter and we want people in this region to support our growing customer base, ”he explained. responsible person.
The technology draws on the expertise of major industry companies such as Farfetch, Unbabel, MediaTree and Miniclip, which are its clients and also invest in Lisbon.
“In addition to talent and culture, we believe that an open and supportive community is very important to us,” said the CEO.
Describing PagerDuty as a company “committed to creating a fairer and more efficient environment” with a more balanced gender ratio than the industry average, Jennifer Tejada said Lisbon’s diverse and multicultural environment was instrumental in the decision.
“We pay a lot of attention to cultural relevance when looking for a new place because we are a very diverse, inclusive, fair organization that wants to create a sense of belonging to the communities in which we participate,” he said.
“We felt that the city of Lisbon and Portugal as a whole was the best place to support us in the growth process,” he added.
Jennifer Tejada will be in Lisbon for the 2021 Web Summit from November 1st to 4th and will talk in a panel about how automation will impact productivity and performance in the future.
The covid-19 pandemic has accelerated the spread of technology, as more and more companies were forced to implement digital solutions during this period. For the quarter ended July 31, PagerDuty reported a 33% increase in revenue to $ 67.5 million from a global customer base of 18,000.
“We’ve seen the digital transformation accelerate dramatically,” said Jennifer Tejada. “Many of our clients have implemented initiatives that they expected to take five or ten years in just one year,” he said.
PagerDuty is considered a pioneer in modernizing digital operations with a platform that manages the applications, web services and “software” infrastructure that companies depend on.
“Customers have moved away from omnichannel or hybrid technologies to companies that have a digital preference. It was a tailwind for PagerDuty, the CEO said.
“We are built to support technical teams that quickly manage unstructured and unpredictable work that can significantly impact brand reputation and employee satisfaction.”
The Lisbon office will join offices in San Francisco, Atlanta, London, Sydney and Toronto.

The first Dacia hybrid. “The cheapest hybrid family on the market”
BUT Dacia revealed this Monday that the hybrid engine has been available since March on the Jogger, the Romanian brand’s model known to be available with a seven-seat variant.
The Jogger Hybrid 140, Dacia’s first hybrid, will hit dealerships in March, but customers can expect and order it as early as January.
The price has been revealed by Dacia and since it’s only available in the seven-seater SL Extreme, it starts at €28,800. The brand claims it is “the most affordable hybrid family car on the market.”
Available in six existing colors to celebrate the launch of this hybrid, there will be a slate gray version, as you can see in the images above.
Equipped with a 1.6 liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 90 hp, the Jogger is also powered by two electric motors (a 50 hp engine and a high-voltage starter-generator). The total power is 140 horsepower. The electric transmission is automatic, four-speed, connected to an internal combustion engine, and two speeds are connected to an electric motor. This combined technology was possible, according to Dacia, only due to the lack of clutch.
Combined with the energy recovery levels of the 1.2kWh (230V) battery pack and the efficiency of the automatic transmission, regenerative braking delivers all-electric traction on 80% of urban journeys and saves up to 40% of fuel compared to a combustion engine vehicle.
