Hello future AUDITOR!
For those who don’t know me, my name is Patricia Manzato and I am a teacher and coach here in strategy competitions, being part of the Portuguese team.
Initially, I invite you to follow me on INSTAGRAM: Prof. Patricia Manzato
Preliminary reviews for the TCE-AM test have been posted and the Portuguese team sees three issues to be appealed. Therefore, we present here the reason for our discrepancy regarding the template, which can be used as a basis for your request:
Question 03
“And here is the machine of ideas … happy ideas, which you drive for three days! For the rest of the year, you walk, in the sun or in the rain, or stay in the inkwell, which is still the best refuge. “
As the writer he is, Machado de Assis, when talking to us about ideas, he simply does NOT tell readers that:
(A) ideas are brought to life only through texts;
(B) not all ideas are communicated;
(C) ideas are sometimes well handled, sometimes bad;
(D) in some cases it is not recommended to voice ideas;
(E) ideas are conveyed in cultural or popular texts.
Sample from the bank: Letter e
Requested template: The letter a
Rationale for the appeal:
Question # 03 contains the following statement: “As an author, Machado de Assis, when talking to us about ideas, he simply does NOT tell readers that:” The correct answer, according to the preliminary template, is the letter E: ideas are conveyed in cultural or popular texts.
Given this statement, it is mistakenly believed that “ideas” are not conveyed in cultural or popular texts.
In fact, the allegory raised in the statement represents exactly the range between the cult (“you stay in the inkwell, which is still the best of refuge”) and the popular (“Here comes the idea machine …” – a clear allusion to the carnival, popular the festival).
On the contrary, it is impossible to conclude from the text of the statement that “ideas are realized only through texts”. Here I draw attention to the word “only”, which limits any other possibility of communicating ideas. This limitation directly contradicts the information that “… Happy ideas, which you drive in three days! The rest of the year you walk, in the sun or rain, or stay in an inkwell …“.
Thus, it is clarified that what is specified in Alternative E (“ideas are conveyed in cultural or popular textsMachado de Assis tells readers, in contrast to what is stated in letter A (“ideas come true only through texts») – an alternative that even differs from the one mentioned in the text, as explained above.
Considering the above, humbly demands that the Template CHANGE to LETTER A.
Question 06
The main purpose of text 2:
(A) inform the reader about the different meanings of the expression vox populi, vox Dei;
(B) show a direct connection between the Latin expression vox populi, vox Dei and classical mythology, justifying the use of Latin;
(C) indicate the meaning and correct origin of the expression vox populi, vox Dei;
(D) to enlighten the reader about the unlikely origin of the expression vox populi, vox Dei;
(E) explain in a more adequate way why the quoted expression refers to two voices, the voice of the people and the voice of God.
Sample from the bank: Letter C
Requested template: Letter e
Rationale for the appeal:
Question # 06 says the following: “The main purpose of text 2:”. The correct answer, according to the preliminary template, is the letter C: “indicate the correct meaning and origin of the expression vox populi, vox Dei”.
Given this statement, the error is noted when considering the statement as the main purpose of the text, as explained below.
It should be recognized that a statement, when asked about the “purpose of the text”, requires that the candidate be able to define the goals that the text sets for himself. With this in mind, it should be noted that Text 2 discusses the possible origin of Voice of the people, in contrast to the widespread “collectivity”. I say “maybe” because the author himself modifies his speech: “Oh, the voice of men is the voice of God It looks like it appeal to public opinion“E”I think being of a different origin, more directly related to the process of divine counseling“.
In addition to the author’s modalization, when referring to the possible origin of the expression, which contradicts the alternative C, which states “correct origin”, it is necessary to pay attention to the command of the question, which requires a “main goal”: it never appears in the text that the letter C calls it “indicating the meaning.” I return again to the passages quoted to emphasize that there is no representation of the meaning here, but there is a possible origin.
Thus, the best alternative that would correspond to the “main purpose of the text” is the letter E: “explain in some way betterbecause there is a reference to two voices in the quoted expression, the voice people and one of the God“. To support this statement, in addition to the passages already mentioned, I cite the story of Hermes, emphasized in the text: “Hermes, (…) answering devotees’ questions with an unusual and promising formula of anonymous voices. “Cleared the querent,” he said in a whisper in his ear. idol his secret desire (…) and he came to the courtyard of the temple (…) waiting to hear first words of passers-by…“. In the highlighted passages, it should be emphasized that it is possible to understand the “most adequate way” (due to modalization) of explaining and referring to two voices: “people” (passers-by) and “God” (Hermes). , idol).
Considering the above, humbly demands to CHANGE THE TEMPLATE TO THE LETTER E.
question 20
In one of the Semana chronicles, Machado de Assis states: “Two opposing things can be true and even legal, depending on the locality. For example, I don’t mate; our brothers from Rio Grande do Sul believe that there is no tastier drink in the world. “
All thoughts below show opposites; the phrase of the same Machado, confirming the idea that “two opposite things can be true and even legal …”:
(A) “In the end, you have to feel sorry for the bad, because they are so weak that they cannot be good”;
(B) “All careers are good, except for sin”;
(C) “Praise and blame are expressed in a few words”;
(D) “Tea is the only worthy partner of coffee”;
(E) “Coal is wealth; diamond is superfluous. “
Sample from the bank: Letra D
Requested template: CANCEL
Rationale for the appeal:
Question # 20 contains the following statement: “All the thoughts below contradict each other; the phrase of the same Machado, confirming the idea that “two opposite things can be true and even legal …” is. ” The correct answer, according to the preliminary template, is the letter D: “Tea is the only worthy partner of coffee.”
Given this statement, I agree that there is a true and legitimate opposition between “tea” and “coffee”, but I cannot help but point to another true and legitimate opposition among alternatives, which is Alternative C: “Praise, censorship does it in a nutshell. “
“Praise” can be expressed in a few words, for example, when believers express their faith to their respective deity with expressions such as “Glory to Jesus”, as well as in long speeches delivered by priests and pastors to their masses, services, etc.
The same happens with censorship, which can be carried out with one or more words, examples of which are warnings that fathers and mothers give to their children, as well as long texts through decrees and laws.
Thus, there is full compliance with the formulation of the question, since, in addition to creating oppositions, they can also be “true and even legal.”
We emphasize the appropriateness of the expression “maybe” because, as explained, praise and censorship also cannot be expressed in a few words.
In view of the above, he humbly requests CANCEL for the above problem as there are two correct alternatives.
That’s it guys!
Strong hugs and good luck!
