Casildo Joao Maldaner was born on April 2, 1942 in Carasinho, Rio Grande do Sul. He is the firstborn of nine children of Andreas and Erica Braum Maldaner. In 1972 he married Ivona Muldaner, with whom he had three children: Hossein, Jandry and Janiara. After the parties ended in 1966, Casildo joined the MDB. The party led by Santa Catarina and of which he was honorary president until his death.

He was a member of the Santa Catarina Legislature in the 8th Legislature (1975-1979) and the 9th Legislature (1979-1983). He was a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the 47th Legislature (1983-1987). During his first term in Brasilia, he reached out to PMDB national leaders such as Ulysses Guimaraes, as his party’s first national executive secretary. He spearheaded the re-democratization process in Brazil, participating in the Diretas Já campaign and the election of Tancredo Neves. He acted under the influence of flags, always oriented towards reconciliation, understanding and prudence.

He was Lieutenant Governor of Santa Catarina, elected in 1986 from a roster headed by Pedro Ivo Campos (PMDB). After the death of Pedro Ivo in January 1990, he took over the leadership of the state’s executive branch, acting until March 1991. Without a mandate, Casildo became president of the PMDB in Santa Catarina.

He was elected Senator of the Republic and served from 1995 to 2003. In 2006, he was elected First Deputy Senator Raimundo Colombo (DEM-SC) PMDB. He was director of the Far South Regional Development Bank until January 2011, when Colombo resigned from his mandate to take over the Santa Catarina government and Maldaner took his Senate seat again.

Trajectory

The agreement was approved by a supermajority at a ministerial meeting of member states in Brussels, Belgium, after months of discussions about the best way to contain the rise in natural gas prices in the bloc caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. .

The value set by the countries is well below the proposal made by the European Commission, the EU’s executive body, in November: 275 EUR/MWh. However, the countries leading the cap campaign were in favor of an even lower limit, around 100 EUR/MWh.
