Yesterday, with a major election victory, Governor-elect Raquel Lira (PSDB) opened a new cycle in Pernambuco politics under her command. The scale of popular recognition is a message to the political class that society is betting on new paradigms of governance and on the way of articulation.
Throughout the campaign, Raquel synthesized in herself all the desire to change and do something different from what she has been doing for years. This deposit of trust from Pernambuco carries a huge responsibility, at the same time it must have energetic responses in the short and long term management.
Finally, the election of Raquel broke some taboos: the first woman elected governor, the first list of women (she and Priscila), the first candidate for the government from the interior.
THE POWER OF PRISCILLA – Elected Deputy Governor Priscila Krause (Citizenship) left the electoral process much larger than she entered. Her ability to formulate and carry on a dialogue was greatly exercised during the week of mourning that Raquel endured. At the turn of the first and second half of the elections, having received a flurry of support, Priscilla was determined to make up for all the absences of the title holder and took charge of the campaign.
SQUID ALARM – During her first speech as elected governor, Raquel Lira said that she would be looking for President Lulu and congratulated him on his victory: “I want to congratulate President Lulu, saying that together with him from the beginning of next year we will look for projects, actions, investments necessary to overcome this difficult moment that our country is going through, as well as Pernambuco.” Despite the election being over, she chose not to reveal her personal vote.
UNITE THE COUNTRY “In his first speech as President-elect, Lula promised to unite the country. Lula says he has been chosen to rule over everyone – left and right – but those most in need are a priority. He has a double job to actually unify the country, the message of the polls was very obvious and regardless of yesterday’s result, Bolsonarism lives on and can be called a coincidence.
FAST
GIANT – The mayor of Vicencia and Raquel’s campaign coordinator in Mata Norte, Guilherme Nunez, came out very well in the election. In addition to his direct relationship with the elected governor, Guiga, as he is commonly known, showed off his regional reach at the campaign summit. Toucan’s victory puts him on a new level in the state.
inelegant – The cancellation of the press conference of the candidate Marilia Arráez (SD) after the defeat in the elections caused disappointment. She preferred to speak through a note. Marilia missed the opportunity to talk to her millions and thank them for their voice.
Which, by the way, strongly emphasized Lula’s victory, put himself at the disposal of the future government and did not make public his congratulations to Raquel Lira, who was elected governor.
PERNAMBUCANS TO THE LIST – After the election is over and Lula wins, speculation about his ministerial team begins. Two people from Pernambuco are gaining ground on the betting exchange: Senator Humberto Costa and Governor Paulo Camara. Costa for the president’s personal quota and for the history inside PT and Paulo for the relationship with the PSB.
