Piccardo jumped impressively 17.98 meters in his third attempt, overtaking China’s Chou Yamin (17.57 meters) and Burkinabe Hugh-Fabrice Zango (17.47).
In the absence of the head of the discipline, the injured two-time Olympic champion and four-time world champion Christian Taylor, Piccardo managed to win his first major title.
