Mercadona opens its 29th store here and is on track for this year.

A This Monday, Mercadona announced the opening of its 29th supermarket in Portugal, which is also the latest of nine planned for this year. The new establishment is located in Santa Maria da Feira.

In a statement, Mercadona explained that it is the brand’s first store in the city to create about 65 jobs, “stable and quality, with open-ended contracts from day one, creating local jobs.”

The supermarket has a retail space of 1,900 square meters and 140 parking spaces.

“With the opening of this store in Santa Maria da Feira, Mercadona completes planned expansion plan for 2021, including the opening of nine more stores, which joined another 20 stores already operating in the districts of Porto, Braga, Aveiro and Viana do Castelo, ”reads the same press release.

Mercadona promises to continue its expansion plan next year and has already begun recruiting staff for stores in Guimaraes, Braga, Povua de Varzim, Santarem, Sintra, Montijo and Setubal.
