Man arrested in Hong Kong with 256 Intel processors tied to body

From time to time, the world of technology presents us with unusual stories that amaze us. Today’s news concerns a man who was arrested in Hong Kong with at least 256 high-end Intel processors tied to his body.

The arrest was carried out as part of an ongoing investigation by the authorities and is one of the aftermaths of a severe industrial crisis over a shortage of microcircuits.

Component shortages are a reality that has raised concerns across the tech sector. This problem affects the market for smartphones, computers, cars, home appliances and more.

It is assumed that the shortage of chips will remain for several long months. Thus, there is no specific equipment on the shelves, and in this sense, some people even go crazy to buy some kind of products.

Man arrested with 256 Intel processors in body

News came from Hong Kong that a man was arrested on June 16 for bringing 256 Intel processors glued to his body.

A man is a driver traveling from Hong Kong to Macau. On the way, the man was stopped by the authorities and was very nervous. But later the reason was discovered because the driver had all this number of high-end Intel processors clinging to the case. The chips were tied to the man's legs and back with sticky paper.

In general, the equipment was very expensive. According to the information, the 256 processors were valued at 800,000 yuan, just over 100,000 euros at the current exchange rate.

In particular, these were 10th generation Intel chips, manufactured using a 14nm process technology. The detected models were Intel Core i7-10700 and Intel Core i9-10900K processors.

This was not unique, as another driver was arrested on June 26 in the same place, in whose seat 52 Intel processors were hidden.

All these arrests are part of study in which, just this week, authorities seized a merchandise truck that was attempting to illegally transfer more than 2,200 processors, more than 1,000 RAM memory, about 630 smartphones and 70 beauty products.

The truck was intercepted near the Lok Ma Chau checkpoint and the 57-year-old driver was arrested. The recovered products were split into 10 different boxes, and the estimated cost of the seizure was about $ 4 million.

The first Dacia hybrid. "The cheapest hybrid family on the market"

BUT Dacia revealed this Monday that the hybrid engine has been available since March on the Jogger, the Romanian brand’s model known to be available with a seven-seat variant.

The Jogger Hybrid 140, Dacia’s first hybrid, will hit dealerships in March, but customers can expect and order it as early as January.

The price has been revealed by Dacia and since it’s only available in the seven-seater SL Extreme, it starts at €28,800. The brand claims it is “the most affordable hybrid family car on the market.”

Available in six existing colors to celebrate the launch of this hybrid, there will be a slate gray version, as you can see in the images above.

Equipped with a 1.6 liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 90 hp, the Jogger is also powered by two electric motors (a 50 hp engine and a high-voltage starter-generator). The total power is 140 horsepower. The electric transmission is automatic, four-speed, connected to an internal combustion engine, and two speeds are connected to an electric motor. This combined technology was possible, according to Dacia, only due to the lack of clutch.

Combined with the energy recovery levels of the 1.2kWh (230V) battery pack and the efficiency of the automatic transmission, regenerative braking delivers all-electric traction on 80% of urban journeys and saves up to 40% of fuel compared to a combustion engine vehicle.
