The Spaniard and Portuguese couple accused the Dutch authorities this Monday of “violating” quarantine and attempting to “escape” on a flight to Spain, deny having escaped from the hotel and claim to have received an exit permit after two negative tests.

Carola Pimenta, 28, and Spaniard Andres Sanz, 30, who live in Spain, are “locked in an inhuman situation, in a cold room, with no information” about what is about to happen in a hospital in the north of the Netherlands. – said the Portuguese, quoted by the Spanish agency Efe.

According to the same source, the couple “have always cooperated” and have been calling on the Dutch health authorities since Saturday to hand them over to the new [teste] PCR to detect possible false negative results.

In addition, he explained, both came from South Africa with a negative PCR result in less than 24 hours. “When I was told that the PCR we performed in Amsterdam was positive, I found it incredible, but I understood everything and asked about the rules that I had to follow. They sent me to a hotel for quarantine and allowed my partner to come with me even though I hadn’t received their results yet, ”he said.

Carola Piment’s test came at midnight, but Sans didn’t get his — negative — until early in the morning, he explained.

“It was weird because we were together for the entire trip. I called the GGD (municipal health service), explained the situation and asked them to check us again because it could be a false positive. They told us that no, that there is no such thing as false positives, ”he added.

Dutch police announced on Monday that they had detained the couple at the Amsterdam airport “after being informed that two people had left the hotel where they were quarantined (mandatory) and that they intended to leave the country,” and explained that they handed over to the health authorities.

The young woman signed a document confirming that she understood the protocol to be followed, and “it said that if she had covid-19 less than six months ago, she would have to be in quarantine for three days, and in any case, I have already fulfilled them, ”he pointed out.

He complains that they were “dumped” from the moment they arrived at the hotel, and that no one gave them “even a thermometer” to monitor their temperature, or asked how they were doing or if they needed any information. , according to your version.

When their request for a repeat PCR was not granted, the couple asked a GGD representative at the hotel to conduct an antigen test.

“They gave Andres a bike and told him to go buy [os testes] to the supermarket who could go out because they did not test positive and were free to circulate. It was all very funny, ”said Pimenta.

According to the Portuguese, both tests were negative, so they spoke to a GGD representative and a hotel security guard to explain the situation by showing them the results of both tests.

“And they told us:” If we were in your situation, we would leave here. ” The taxi was in front of them, we showed them the ticket, took our things and left for the airport. “

Once inside the plane and after going through security, a policeman appeared who, according to the young woman, told her that she was under arrest and that his partner could “return to his country,” but he decided not to leave her.

The Portuguese said the agents took them in a police van to the police station and then released them without charge, although they were taken to hospital by ambulance, where authorities said they were currently undergoing “mandatory isolation” under surveillance until further notice. …
