“I am Portuguese in body and soul”
RHui Patricio left a message to the Portuguese on social media this Sunday. The Portuguese goalkeeper, who was with the national team in Qatar, left a possible farewell up in the air, largely due to a photo he posted on Instagram but did not confirm it in a written message.
“I am Portuguese in body and soul, I have always represented my country with the greatest pride and respect. In victory and defeat, we always walk together, with our heads held high and looking forward. Keep growing and learning in life and sport. Hugs to all who supported and will always support Portugal,” he wrote on Instagram along with a photo of his shirt hanging on a hanger.
Rui Patricio didn’t play a minute at the 2022 World Cup as he was eliminated from the starting XI for Diogo Costa. It was the third and possibly the last World Cup in the career of the 34-year-old Roma player.
