Donald Trump is facing the possibility of a big loss

Survey conducted by New York Times and Siena College, show Trump behind former Vice President Joe Biden with double digits in Michigan (Biden +11), Wisconsin (Biden +11) and Pennsylvania (Biden + 10) and with a single middle number in North Carolina (Biden +9), Arizona ( Biden +7) and Florida (Biden +6).

Trump wins every one from these countries in the 2016 elections. Change from red to blue and you can quickly see how poor Trump is at the moment.

Give Biden the six states – Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Arizona, and Florida – and keep the rest of the 2020 map as in 2016, and the Democratic candidate has 333 election vote to be fair 205 for Trump. That will be a margin of the Electoral College that is greater than won by President Barack Obama in his 2012 election.

But even that doesn’t capture how dark things can happen for Trump. Consider:

* A Quinnipiac University poll in Ohio released Wednesday showed Biden at 46% to Trump’s 45%. (Fox News poll released in early June showed Biden at 47% to Trump’s 45%). If Ohio goes to Biden, he will be in 351 election vote.
* A Des Moines, registration poll earlier this month put Trump at 44% and Biden at 43% in Iowa. Give Biden Iowa and he’s in 357 election vote.
* A Quinnipiac University poll released earlier this month put Biden on Trump’s point in Texas. If Biden wins Texas, he will 395 since the election, the biggest election ballot since then George H. Bush defeated Michael Dukakis in 1988 with 426 votes.

Now, to be clear: It is very unlikely that Biden won all 9 of these countries. Texas last went for the Democratic presidential candidate in 1976, when Jimmy Carter took him. Ohio and Iowa went to Trump convincingly in 2016 and the Republicans stayed there in 2018 – winning governors in both.

But what is made clear by the recent poll numbers is that all of these conditions play a role. So, I don’t think Biden will win Texas but a) Trump has to spend (a lot of) money on TV ads to lock the country and b) polls show that there is a path for Biden on Lone Star Status.

Plus, Biden doesn’t need to win Texas. Or Florida. Or Ohio. Or North Carolina. Or even Arizona. If Biden wins only Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania – and holds the entire state of Hillary Clinton to win in 2016 – she wins the White House with 278 election vote. Anything outside of the three countries, which has, before the 2016 elections, a long history of supporting Democrats at the presidential level, is gravy.

What the current landscape suggests is this: Yes very credible opportunity that Biden won 330 votes on November 3. Which, in a polarized and two-pronged political world like this and against an incumbent president, in my opinion, would qualify as a landslide.

The only hope for Trump is that it’s June 25. Which means the election isn’t for 132 days. Trump must hope that things change drastically in the next five months. If not, it won’t be a long election night for him.

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.

According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”

In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.

In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.

From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.

Then, at the second concert, in the company of the Mexican clarinetist Angel Zedillo, he will perform the Louis Sfora Concerto No. 2. In this concert, the maestro also conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.

“This is an international recognition of my work. An invitation that I accept with humility and great responsibility. I was surprised to learn that I would be the first Portuguese member of the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. This is a very great honor,” the maestro said in a statement.

“I take with me the name of the city of Braga and Portugal with all the responsibility that goes with it, and I hope to do a good job there, leaving a good image and putting on great concerts. These will be very special concerts because, in addition to performing pieces that I love, especially Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, I will be directing two wonderful soloists who are also my friends. It will be very beautiful,” concludes Filipe Cunha.
