These positions were written by António Costa on his Twitter account after he received Grand Dukes Enrique and Maria Teresa of Luxembourg in São Bento on the second and last day of their state visit to Portugal.

In his message, António Costa also mentioned that “during this second state visit to Portugal” by the Grand Dukes of Luxembourg, “it was a privilege to be able to record the agreement of positions between the two countries in Europe. and globally, as well as to explore possible ways of bilateral cooperation in areas such as green and blue economies and digital transformation.”
On Wednesday, at the start of the state visit, the President of the Republic said that Portugal and Luxembourg “completely agree” in the European Union and NATO and have “the same views” on the situation in Europe.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa thanked “how the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg was able to welcome, understand and integrate the Portuguese community”, and regarding bilateral relations, he noted that “there is more life after the pandemic, and there is more life after the war” in Ukraine.
“We live in a war. This visit is a sign of peace, friendship, a sign that life goes on, a sign of hope, there is hope beyond war, and at the same time a sign that we are in agreement,” he said.
“We fully agree, we fully agree with the European Union, we fully agree with our transatlantic friends and allies, we fully agree with various international institutions, the UN and other political, economic, social and financial organizations. points of view in connection with the difficult moment that Europe is going through,” he added.
