Brazil set the record for company start-ups in the second quarter of the year – Português (Brazil).
The Ministry of Economy’s new Business Card Bulletin, released this Thursday (30.09), shows that Brazil once again reached a record number of startups in a four-month period, reaching 1.4 million new ones. business. The positive balance of a larger number of companies operating in the country from May to August 2021 amounted to 936,229 people. This balance is the difference between all trades opened (1,420,782) and closed (484,553) for the period. The total number of active companies in Brazil is 18,440,986.
According to the bulletin, this last four-month period follows a trend already observed in previous periods, when the number of open companies exceeded the 1 million mark. The sharpest growth recorded between May and August 2021 represents an increase of 1.9% over the previous four-month period and 26.5% over the same period in 2020.
The company map also indicates that the North Region is one of the highlights of the nation’s startups from May to August, with four states in the top five in a ranking that measures the percentage growth of startups. Acre was the state with the highest percentage growth for the period, up 26.6% over the first months of 2021 and 41.7% over the second quarter of 2020. The next in the ranking are states from Amapa, Rondonia. , Alagoas and Roraima.
It is worth noting that in these five states, entrepreneurs already have a GOV.BR electronic signature to facilitate starting their business, making the process simpler and more flexible. For the Special Secretary for Debureaucratization, Governance and Digital Government of the Ministry of Economy, Cayo Mario Paes de Andrade, the digital transformation of public services promoted by the federal government plays a fundamental role in improving the country’s business environment.
“The federal government has coordinated actions so that the user responds automatically at all stages of the business start-up process. This avoids unnecessary travel for entrepreneurs and provides more flexible procedures. For example, the use of the GOV.BR signature on commercial boards has reduced the costs and time for the user to formalize their business. New company registrations are increasing the Brazilian choice for entrepreneurship and start-ups, ”emphasizes the secretary.
The economic activity that represented the largest stream of new business was retailing in clothing and accessories, with 82,943 new companies opening. Thus, the growth was 11% compared to the first months of 2021 and 20.7% compared to the 2nd quarter of 2020. Other areas that stood out were sales promotion (67,888 open), hairdressing, manicure and pedicure (46,137 open) and masonry (45,957 open).
Reduced opening times
The business environment in Brazil also showed positive results in relation to the time the company was founded. The average time recorded in the second quarter of 2021 was 2 days 16 hours. This is 13 hours less than recorded in the first four months of the year. Compared to the same period in 2020, there was a reduction of 5 hours.
According to the Map of Companies, the state of Goias has the shortest time to start a business during this period: 1 day and 2 hours, which represents a decrease of 16 hours (38.1%) compared to the first four months of this year. … In addition, over the past four months, Goiânia has taken the position of the most dynamic opening among the capitals, with an average opening time of 18 hours. Maceio (AL), Curitiba (PR), Brasilia (DF) and Natal (RN) complete the list of more dynamic capitals, all in less than two days.
In the capitals scenario, the advancement of the city of El Salvador stands out. The opening of companies in the capital of Bahia, which took 31 days, now takes 2 days 19 hours. As a result, the municipality moved up in the national ranking of business start-up times among the capitals of the country. This achievement is the result of the capital’s integration with the State Board of Commerce, so that the necessary procedures for setting up a business are carried out on the board’s website without the need for additional fees to other email addresses.
“The average time to start a business in the country has shown a downward trend in recent months, reflecting the movement of federal, state and municipal governments towards a more flexible and simplified business start-up process,” said the director of the National Department. Business Registry and Integration (DREI), André Santa Cruz.
Digital Government Secretary Luis Felipe Monteiro emphasizes that the Digital Government Strategy 2020-2022 is defined as the goal of reducing the average time to start a business in Brazil to 1 day. He emphasizes that GOV.BR plays a fundamental role in the quest for this abbreviation. “GOV.BR is a common platform that solves problems common to all public administration. The platform offers tools and mechanisms to create conditions for the provision of high-quality and flexible digital public services, improve the business environment in the country and encourage entrepreneurship, ”he says.
Making it easier to start a new business
The growth in new business start-ups in the country is also a reflection of important initiatives by the federal government to improve the registration and legalization process for companies. Measures to make life easier for an entrepreneur include the automatic registration of companies, the Economic Freedom Act (Law 13,874 / 2019), the waiver of the low-risk activity permit, and the recently published Law No. 14,195, which aims to further simplify the opening and operation of companies in country.
Accountant Wesley Diaz, a Goiânia resident, says he is feeling the positive impact of these initiatives, which improve the country’s business environment on a daily basis. He, who has worked with starting a business in the state of Goias for over 30 years, says simplification of procedures, whether through technology or new legislation, has made the day-to-day work much easier and inspired those who strive to do so.
“When RedeSim appeared – a network of computerized systems for registering and legalizing companies and enterprises, both within the Union and in the states and municipalities – I was very reluctant. But today I am convinced that the system optimizes a lot and greatly simplifies our work. I know there is room for improvement, but I see many advances, and the digital signature is one of them, ”he says.
Companies map
The Company Map tool was launched in 2020 by the federal government to facilitate decision-making by entrepreneurs, public and private managers, and to help researchers and analysts study manufacturing activities.
Any citizen anywhere in the country has free access to an interactive map and newsletter through the gov.br portal. [gov.br/mapadeempresas]… With the help of tools developed by the Special Secretariat for Debureaucratization, Governance and Digital Government of the Ministry of Economy in partnership with Serpro, it is possible to check the data on the opening of companies in each region, state or municipality, by type of activity and opening time, it is easy to find and compare with previous periods.

Hermann’s Tortoise Lifespan: How to Ensure a Long, Healthy Life
Ensuring a long and healthy life for your Hermann’s Tortoise requires a combination of proper care, nutrition, and habitat management. Hermann’s Tortoises, known for their charming personalities and distinctive shells, can live for several decades with the right conditions. Understanding their needs and providing a suitable environment is key to helping them thrive. Here’s how you can support your Hermann’s Tortoise in living a long, happy life.
Creating an Optimal Habitat
One of the most critical factors in promoting the longevity of your Hermann’s Tortoise is the creation of a suitable habitat. Providing an environment that mimics their natural surroundings is essential for their overall health. An appropriate habitat helps prevent stress and supports their well-being. For detailed guidance on setting up an ideal habitat, including specific requirements for outdoor enclosures, visit this comprehensive guide on Habitat for Hermann’s Tortoise.
- Outdoor Enclosure: Hermann’s Tortoises thrive in outdoor enclosures that provide ample space to roam, bask, and forage. An outdoor setup should include a secure, predator-proof area with access to natural sunlight. Incorporate areas for basking and shade to allow the tortoise to regulate its body temperature. Additionally, include plants, rocks, and hiding spots to simulate their natural habitat and encourage natural behaviors.
- Indoor Habitat: If an outdoor enclosure is not feasible, an indoor habitat can also support a long lifespan if set up correctly. Use a large, well-ventilated enclosure with appropriate heating and UVB lighting. Provide a substrate that allows for burrowing and offer various hiding spots and enrichment items.
Diet and Nutrition
A balanced diet is vital for maintaining the health and longevity of your Hermann’s Tortoise. They are primarily herbivores, and their diet should reflect their natural feeding habits.
- Leafy Greens: Offer a variety of leafy greens such as kale, collard greens, and dandelion greens. These vegetables provide essential vitamins and minerals that support overall health.
- Vegetables and Fruits: Supplement their diet with other vegetables like carrots, squash, and bell peppers. Fruits should be given in moderation due to their high sugar content.
- Calcium and Supplements: Provide a calcium supplement to support shell and bone health. A cuttlebone or powdered calcium can be added to their food. Ensure that they also have access to fresh, clean water at all times.
Regular Health Checks
Routine health checks are essential for early detection of potential health issues. Regular veterinary visits help ensure your tortoise remains in optimal condition and addresses any health concerns promptly.
- Observation: Monitor your tortoise’s behavior and physical condition regularly. Changes in appetite, weight, or activity level can indicate health problems.
- Preventative Care: Schedule annual check-ups with a veterinarian experienced in reptile care. Regular exams help catch any issues early and keep vaccinations and other preventative treatments up to date.
Environmental Enrichment
Providing environmental enrichment helps keep your Hermann’s Tortoise mentally stimulated and active. Enrichment can reduce stress and prevent boredom, contributing to a better quality of life.
- Foraging Opportunities: Hide food items around the enclosure to encourage natural foraging behavior. This not only provides mental stimulation but also mimics their natural hunting practices.
- Variety: Change the layout of their enclosure periodically and introduce new objects or plants to keep their environment interesting and engaging.
Conclusion
By focusing on creating the right habitat, providing a balanced diet, ensuring regular health checks, and offering environmental enrichment, you can significantly enhance the lifespan and well-being of your Hermann’s Tortoise. For further details on creating an ideal habitat, including tips for designing an outdoor enclosure, refer to this helpful guide on Habitat for Hermann’s Tortoise.
