The Ministry of Economy’s new Business Card Bulletin, released this Thursday (30.09), shows that Brazil once again reached a record number of startups in a four-month period, reaching 1.4 million new ones. business. The positive balance of a larger number of companies operating in the country from May to August 2021 amounted to 936,229 people. This balance is the difference between all trades opened (1,420,782) and closed (484,553) for the period. The total number of active companies in Brazil is 18,440,986.

According to the bulletin, this last four-month period follows a trend already observed in previous periods, when the number of open companies exceeded the 1 million mark. The sharpest growth recorded between May and August 2021 represents an increase of 1.9% over the previous four-month period and 26.5% over the same period in 2020.

The company map also indicates that the North Region is one of the highlights of the nation’s startups from May to August, with four states in the top five in a ranking that measures the percentage growth of startups. Acre was the state with the highest percentage growth for the period, up 26.6% over the first months of 2021 and 41.7% over the second quarter of 2020. The next in the ranking are states from Amapa, Rondonia. , Alagoas and Roraima.

It is worth noting that in these five states, entrepreneurs already have a GOV.BR electronic signature to facilitate starting their business, making the process simpler and more flexible. “The federal government has coordinated actions so that the user responds automatically at all stages of the business start-up process. This avoids unnecessary travel for entrepreneurs and provides more flexible procedures. For example, the use of the GOV.BR signature on commercial boards has reduced the costs and time for the user to formalize their business. New company registrations are increasing the Brazilian choice for entrepreneurship and start-ups, ”emphasizes the secretary.

The economic activity that represented the largest stream of new business was retailing in clothing and accessories, with 82,943 new companies opening. Thus, the growth was 11% compared to the first months of 2021 and 20.7% compared to the 2nd quarter of 2020. Other areas that stood out were sales promotion (67,888 open), hairdressing, manicure and pedicure (46,137 open) and masonry (45,957 open).

Reduced opening times

The business environment in Brazil also showed positive results in relation to the time the company was founded. The average time recorded in the second quarter of 2021 was 2 days 16 hours. This is 13 hours less than recorded in the first four months of the year. Compared to the same period in 2020, there was a reduction of 5 hours.

According to the Map of Companies, the state of Goias has the shortest time to start a business during this period: 1 day and 2 hours, which represents a decrease of 16 hours (38.1%) compared to the first four months of this year. … In addition, over the past four months, Goiânia has taken the position of the most dynamic opening among the capitals, with an average opening time of 18 hours. Maceio (AL), Curitiba (PR), Brasilia (DF) and Natal (RN) complete the list of more dynamic capitals, all in less than two days.

In the capitals scenario, the advancement of the city of El Salvador stands out. The opening of companies in the capital of Bahia, which took 31 days, now takes 2 days 19 hours. As a result, the municipality moved up in the national ranking of business start-up times among the capitals of the country. This achievement is the result of the capital’s integration with the State Board of Commerce, so that the necessary procedures for setting up a business are carried out on the board’s website without the need for additional fees to other email addresses.

“The average time to start a business in the country has shown a downward trend in recent months, reflecting the movement of federal, state and municipal governments towards a more flexible and simplified business start-up process,” said the director of the National Department. Business Registry and Integration (DREI), André Santa Cruz.

Digital Government Secretary Luis Felipe Monteiro emphasizes that the Digital Government Strategy 2020-2022 is defined as the goal of reducing the average time to start a business in Brazil to 1 day.
