Boeing can start flight test 737 Max, FAA said
This step marks an important step in the process to re-certify 737 Max, which has been flown since March 2019, for passenger flights.
Boeing said it expects to receive full approval for the aircraft to fly passengers in the middle of this year. The FAA in a letter to Congress on Sunday said it did not yet have a date when the runway would be revoked.

“Flights with the FAA test pilot can start as early as tomorrow, evaluating Boeing’s proposed changes to the automatic flight control system at 737 MAX,” the government wrote in a letter to MPs, obtained by CNN. “Testing is expected to take several days, and will include a variety of flight maneuvers and emergency procedures to enable agencies to assess whether the change meets FAA certification standards.”

Boeing has worked with the FAA to get the 737 Max back into the air after two accidents that killed 346 people. The company initially hoped the plane would fly again before the end of 2019, but the effort hit a number of obstacles, including new software problems discovered in February.

“Boeing continues to work diligently to support the safe return of 737 Max to commercial services. We are subject to the FAA and global regulators in the process,” Boeing said in a statement to CNN on Sunday.

The problem with Max’s 737 so far has been Boeing’s $ 18.7 billion, and that number is likely to continue to rise.
The company temporarily stopped building 737 Max in January, before the Covid-19 pandemic hit most of the world’s airlines. It was unable to continue building Max without being able to send planes and complete jet sales.
Boeing resumed aircraft production in May, but airlines have moved to cancel or postpone delivery of new jets in the face of the Covid-19 crisis, forcing Boeing to greatly reduce its production plans for at least the next few years.

The aircraft cannot return to service until it receives final approval from the FAA.

The FAA letter to Congress said the start of the test flight did not indicate the agency had “completed an evaluation of its compliance or other work related to returning to service.” The agency outlined in the letter the steps that would remain in the cleaning process after the test flight, which included evaluating the minimum pilot training requirements among other processes.

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.

According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”

In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.

In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.

From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.

Then, at the second concert, in the company of the Mexican clarinetist Angel Zedillo, he will perform the Louis Sfora Concerto No. 2. In this concert, the maestro also conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.

“This is an international recognition of my work. An invitation that I accept with humility and great responsibility. I was surprised to learn that I would be the first Portuguese member of the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. This is a very great honor,” the maestro said in a statement.

“I take with me the name of the city of Braga and Portugal with all the responsibility that goes with it, and I hope to do a good job there, leaving a good image and putting on great concerts. These will be very special concerts because, in addition to performing pieces that I love, especially Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, I will be directing two wonderful soloists who are also my friends. It will be very beautiful,” concludes Filipe Cunha.
