There has never been so much talk about energy/electricity as there is today. Prices are skyrocketing, mainly due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, and governments have taken steps to help taxpayers.

In Portugal, according to government measures, only the first 100 kWh of consumption are covered by a reduction in VAT on electricity to 6%. What could I connect?

electricity: 100 kWh with contractual power not exceeding 6.9 kVA

According to Deco Proteste and the Association of Energy Traders in a Liberalized Market (ACEMEL), the VAT rebate should result in monthly savings of between €1.08 and €1.62 for a couple with two sons.

Also according to Deco Proteste, 100 kWh of electricity consumption does not correspond to much. If a couple has a contract, the power of which under the contract does not exceed 6.9 kVA, it is possible to have a refrigerator operating 24 hours a day, a dishwasher and washing machine three times a week, one TV set turned on for four hours a day. and lighting a home with five 10W lamps for six hours a day is sufficient to achieve a consumption of 99.08 kWh per month.

Channel ECO/Capital Verde has prepared a small table showing the type of household appliances and their monthly consumption in terms of electricity to reach 100 kWh of electricity consumption. In case the family uses an induction cooker and a computer, the monthly consumption already reaches almost 150 kWh.

It should be noted that from October 1 until the end of the year, all consumers whose contractual capacity does not exceed 6.9 kVA (which corresponds to approximately 5.3 million consumers) pay only 6% VAT on the level of electricity.
