A cyclist helps catch a murder suspect by lending an officer in his wheels

On Tuesday, officers combed the area in the city’s Old Fourth Ward where fatal shootings occurred when they saw the suspect, according to news releases from the Atlanta Police Department.

The man immediately escaped from the area on a bicycle and rode the BeltLine, a popular multipurpose line that crosses the city, the release said.

Stephen Willard told CNN that he was cycling to his home when he saw police chase.

“I came home from the office … and the next thing I saw was an APD officer running towards me,” Willard said. “The next thing I knew was that one of the officers waved his hand and lowered my flag and said, ‘Hey, ma’am, let me borrow your bicycle!’ ”

Willard got off his bicycle and handed it over to the police officers.

The bodycam video posted by the police online captured officers rowing BeltLine and into busy city streets while keeping suspects in sight. In the audio, it provides updates about the location of the suspect.

After a few minutes, officers rode bicycles to the Ponce City Market, a multipurpose development. Another officer has already arrested the suspect.

“We caught him, arrested him, arrested him,” said the cycling officer.

Meanwhile, Willard had called the police station and told the police where he was waiting. After 30 to 40 minutes, the officer returns with his bicycle.

“He was really excited about catching that guy, and he thanked him very much,” Willard said. “I say, you are valued, even though the voices strongly criticize you, you are valued.”

Willard and the clerk split up.

“It was very good, and it made me feel good, and everything worked very well,” Willard said. “They arrested the suspect and I got my bicycle back intact.”

Nicholas Fonsaca, 21, from Atlanta was arrested and charged with criminal murder, according to police. He was accused in shooting the death of a 37-year-old man on Sunday, police said.

Fonsaca was detained in Fulton County Prison and police told CNN that it was unknown whether he had a lawyer at this time.

“We are proud of the work carried out by our investigators in this case and proud of the efforts made by our officers in pursuing and arresting this dangerous suspect,” the Atlanta Police said in a statement.

“In addition, we are grateful for the help of cyclists in lending us their bicycles. With the help of the community, we can make the City of Atlanta safer.”

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.

According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”

In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.

In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.

From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.

Then, at the second concert, in the company of the Mexican clarinetist Angel Zedillo, he will perform the Louis Sfora Concerto No. 2. In this concert, the maestro also conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.

“This is an international recognition of my work. An invitation that I accept with humility and great responsibility. I was surprised to learn that I would be the first Portuguese member of the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. This is a very great honor,” the maestro said in a statement.

“I take with me the name of the city of Braga and Portugal with all the responsibility that goes with it, and I hope to do a good job there, leaving a good image and putting on great concerts. These will be very special concerts because, in addition to performing pieces that I love, especially Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, I will be directing two wonderful soloists who are also my friends. It will be very beautiful,” concludes Filipe Cunha.
