Coronavirus: Highest Rates of Weekly Cases Since Testing and Tracking System Launched | UK News
The weekly number of coronavirus cases in England has increased by 43%, according to new data.
In the seven days before September 2, a total of 9,864 people tested positive for COVID-19…
This is the highest weekly rate since the launch of the state testing and tracking system in late May.
This is despite the fact that the number of people being tested is leveling off.
Boris Johnson said that due to the increase in the number of cases of coronavirus, especially among young people, from this Monday, a maximum of six people in England can get together indoors and outdoors.…
The number of positive cases has increased since the beginning of July and is now 12% higher than the number recorded when the scheme began on May 28.
The number of people tested has increased since mid-June but has stabilized over the past five weeks.
Also, in the week before September 2, about 30% of close contacts of people with a positive test result were not covered by the scheme.
The achieved figure of 69.2% is the lowest percentage in a week since the launch of the system.
This figure fell slightly from 69.8% in the previous week.
For coronavirus In cases involving local medical teams, 96.6% of contacts were reached and asked to self-isolate during the week before September 2.
In contrast, in those cases that were considered either online or in call centers, 61.3% of close contacts were made and asked to isolate themselves.
Contacts were more likely in the Southwest and Southeast than in the Northwest, West Midlands and Yorkshire.
Only 42% of contacts were received in Bradford for cases resolved online or in call centers. This is the lowest rate among local authorities in England.
For the cases in Peterborough, 46% of contacts were achieved, for Blackburn with Darwen this figure is 48%, and for Kirklees and Nottingham it is 49%.
The total number of close contacts identified has decreased by 41% since contact tracing began.
This was due to a decrease in the number of difficult close contacts identified, including people who work or have recently visited a hospital, nursing home or prison.
Amid a sharp rise in coronavirus cases across the country, the prime minister pinned their hopes on a new mass test regime piloted in England next month.
Asked by Sky News political editor Beth Rigby if people without a mass trial should agree to hold small gatherings on Christmas Day, the prime minister said it was “too early to say.”
However, he said he “hopes” the new restrictions will ease the current surge.
Johnson admitted that the rules regarding the coronavirus have become “complex and confusing.”
He said the latest move, the most ambitious since the lockdown was eased this summer, was aimed at “simplifying and strengthening the rules” and “making them easier for everyone to understand.”

The dollar continues to reflect the political scenario
Yesterday, financial agents evaluated the opposite decision of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) regarding the so-called secret budget. In addition, a decision was made by STF Minister Gilmar Méndez to issue an injunction that would exclude the Bolsa Família from the spending cap rule, with investors trying to understand how this measure would affect the processing of the transitional PEC in the Chamber of Deputies. Oh this PEC!!!!
Since he is an exchange investor, any reading that the budget will be exceeded or become more flexible will negatively affect the exchange market, whether through the PEC or in any other way. We will continue with volatility today.
Looking beyond, the US Central Bank (Fed), although slowing down the pace of monetary tightening at its December meeting, issued a tougher-than-expected statement warning that its fight against inflation was not yet over, raising fears that rising US interest rates will push the world’s largest economy into recession.
The currency market continues to react to political news. The voting on the PEC is saved for today. It is expected that it will indeed be reviewed to open the way tomorrow for discussions on the 2023 budget.
For today on the calendar we will have an index of consumer confidence in the eurozone. Good luck and good luck in business!!

The EU has reached a political agreement on limiting gas prices – 19.12.2022
The agreement was approved by a supermajority at a ministerial meeting of member states in Brussels, Belgium, after months of discussions about the best way to contain the rise in natural gas prices in the bloc caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. .
The value set by the countries is well below the proposal made by the European Commission, the EU’s executive body, in November: 275 EUR/MWh. However, the countries leading the cap campaign were in favor of an even lower limit, around 100 EUR/MWh.
Germany, always wary of price controls, voted in favor of 180 euros, while Austria and the Netherlands, also skeptical of the cap, abstained. Hungary, the most pro-Russian country in the EU, voted against.
The instrument will enter into force on 15 February, but only if natural gas prices on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange exceed 180 euros/MWh for three consecutive days. In addition, the difference compared to a number of global benchmarks should be more than 35 euros.
Italy, the EU’s biggest supporter of the ceiling, has claimed responsibility for the measure. “This is a victory for Italy, which believed and worked for us to reach this agreement,” Environment and Energy Minister Gilberto Picetto tweeted.
“This is a victory for Italian and European citizens who demand energy security,” he added.
Currently, the gas price in Amsterdam is around 110 EUR/MWh, which is already a reflection of the agreement in Brussels – in August the figure even broke the barrier of 340 EUR/MWh.
However, Russia has already threatened to stop exports to countries that adhere to the ceiling. (ANSA).
