Eurovision Grand Final 2021

The 65th Eurovision Song Contest took place in Rotterdam. Portugal finished 12th in the tournament won by Italy and Rock. Here is a list of records or unusual moments that have been recorded in the Netherlands.

1º – A Italy won… Since 1990, the trophy has not been shipped to Italy. The winning song at the time was Insieme: 1992. Toto Cutugno

2º – O rock won… A rarity at Eurovision. This musical style last triumphed in 2006, when Finland took first place thanks to Gross and his song “Hard Rock Hallelujah”.

3rd place – Melodies “Zitti e buoni” from Italy, “Voilà” from France and “Tout l’Univers” from Switzerland took the podium in that order. Those., none of the top three ads were written in English… This has not happened in 26 years.

4º – Portugal ranked 12th, that is, in the first half of the final classification. It was only for the second time in the 21st century that the Portuguese representation managed to stay in the first half, in the final (the very presence in the final was infrequent). Victory was another exception. Salvador Sobralin 2017.

5th place – In the final, Portugal scored 12 points national jury – Czech Republic. A rarity in the history of the festival (forgetting about the victory in 2017).

6th – The current voting system only debuted in 2016, but this was the first time a country had completed a final with zero points… It was United Kingdom, which did not earn any points either from the national jury or from the audience. And the final has gathered the most TV viewers in the UK over the past seven years.

7th – For the first time with such a voting system, four countries did not receive points from viewers: Netherlands (house entourage), Spain, Germany and UK parted on televoting

8th – Five “big” Eurovision Song Contest, the so-called. The Big Five, took the outermost places in the classification in the final: Italy and France were the first two, and Spain, Germany and the United Kingdom were the last three. The anomaly here was the contrast; because the Big Five were often represented in the last places or even in the last place.

9º – A Australia he has always been in the finals since his debut (2015). This time he was not. Now Ukraine it is the only country that has always managed to overcome the semi-finals since the semi-finals appeared at Eurovision in 2004.

10º – A Iceland he played in the finals, but did not play in the pavilion where the event was held. One coronavirus case removed the Icelandic environment from the rest.

11 – Unexpected event delayed execution Ireland in the first semi-final. The culprit was one of TV cameras that broke, seconds to Irish music. One of the presenters at the time was “running the chorizo.”

12th – After the final, during a press conference, a Swedish journalist asked Damiano David, lead singer of the winning group Måneskin, if he use cocainewhen he was caught live as he lowered himself to a table in a motion that looked like drug use.

The vocalist refused, explaining that he bowed because another member of the group broke a glass: “I do not take drugs, please do not say that.” Later in the statement Moneskin added: “We are ready to conduct tests, we have nothing to hide.” And the day after the final, the European Broadcasting Union itself announced that Damiano David will conduct the test voluntarily.

And further…

13th place – Full house. Yes, those who watched the event on television noticed that they 3500 people in the pavilion in Rotterdam – and no one wore masks. Every two days, all people entering the enclosure were tested for coronavirus. Only 0.06% of the tests were positive.
