Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 will not have an innovative anti-theft system

When the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 was officially presented, the company allocated a new anti-theft system for it, which can be seen as an evolution over what is currently in existence.

The system will allow the device to continue to be discovered even if it is “disconnected” from the Internet, as the company integrates a virtual SIM card into the equipment that can maintain a connection at any time. Thus, even if the device was disconnected from the Internet or its SIM card was removed, it could still be found thanks to the connection of this virtual SIM card – obviously, provided that the users have the same asset.

However, the company had to come back to this idea… On social media Weibo, Xiaomi has confirmed that the Mi Mix 4 will not have this feature due to the Chinese authorities refusing to implement it.

At least in the Chinese version of the device, which is currently the only one, this feature will not be available to users. But it is possible that if the Mi Mix 4 appears in the global version, it will be integrated again.

However, Xiaomi’s announcement came just three days after the Mix 4 was officially unveiled. And it also demonstrates how large companies continue to face significant pressure from the Chinese authorities, which have recently tightened control over technologies used in local industries, as well as over some of the mechanisms for controlling user data.
