“Win the World Cup? There is no Portuguese who would not expect to be at the airport.”

FHernando Santos commented this Friday on his position in the national team. The breeder ensured that he had a “moral agreement” that he must fulfill, and said the only one in which his succession in office was in question.

“The first conversation I had with Fernando Gomes was about a two-year contract that had an eight-game suspension clause that I had to resolve by January. The package is clear for rescission. From there we decide. There is a moral agreement between us, and that is how it will be,” he began in a statement to the Sport TV channel.

As for the ambitions he has for the 2022 World Cup, Fernando Santos has made no secret of his enthusiasm and conviction that Portugal is a candidate and has the natural conditions to win the competition.

“I hope and wish. There is no Portuguese who would not expect to be at the airport. This is a natural ambition. It would be bad if, after our achievements, there was not this ambition. With confidence in the quality of the players and in ourselves,” he concluded.
