“I can confirm that [o ministro dos Negócios Estrangeiros russo] Sergey Lavrov will head the Russian delegation to the G20. The program of President Putin is still being worked out, he will be able to participate virtually,” said Yulia Tomskaya, head of protocol at the Russian Embassy in Indonesia.

The G20 Heads of State and Government Summit is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, November 15 and 16, with the participation of US and Chinese leaders Joe Biden and Xi Jinping, respectively.

Indonesia came under heavy pressure from the West to exclude Russia from the summit over its invasion of Ukraine, but fought back, arguing that the summit’s host country should remain neutral.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose country is not part of the G20, was also invited by Indonesia and is expected to attend the summit virtually.

Russia’s military offensive in Ukraine, launched on February 24, has already caused the flight of more than 13 million people – more than six million internally displaced people and more than 7.5 million to European countries – according to the latest UN figures that ranked this refugee crisis. as the worst in Europe since World War II (1939-1945).

The Russian invasion, justified by Putin as the need to “denazify” and demilitarize Ukraine for Russia’s security, was condemned by the international community as a whole, which responded by sending weapons to Ukraine and imposing political and economic sanctions against Russia.

The UN has presented as confirmed 6,114 civilian deaths and 9,132 wounded since the start of the war, stressing that these figures are much lower than the real ones.
