Two years later, President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) selected the party for re-election in 2022. 33 years later, former governor Geraldo Alcmin (not a party) decided to leave PSDB amid flirting with former President Lula (PT). and disagreements with Governor João Doria (PSDB-SP).

These were just a few of the party-political changes over the past year, especially in the second half, with the 2022 elections approaching. Parties were created, others were recreated, while some subtitles received a lot of reinforcement and others experienced crush.

Check out what the party movement was like last year, at the start of the 2022 electoral dispute:

House in Bolsonaro

Perhaps the main electoral movement of the year was the selection of the new legend Bolsonaro for re-election in 2022. He spent two years without a party, and after much flirting and talking with politicians with subtitles such as PP and Patriota, one failed attempt Once he formed his party, the president officially joined the PL at the end of November.

He took with him his eldest son, Senator Flavio Bolsonaro (RJ), then at Patriota, and Regional Development Minister Rogerio Mariño, former PSDB and Rio Grande do Norte’s preliminary government candidate. Other pocket members are expected to join the acronym, such as MPs Eduardo Bolsonaro (PSL-SP) and Bia Kichis (PSL-DF).

On the other hand, PL also suffered losses. After joining Bolsonaro, Chamber Vice President Marcelo Ramos (AM), Councilor Tammy Miranda from São Paulo and former MP Milton Monti (SP) announced the retirement of the acronym.

Another party movement that will have a direct impact on the 2022 elections is the chair dance in the SDPB São Paulo. In a veiled battle with Doria, Alcmin decided to leave the party in December, which he helped found 33 years later.

The ex-governor of São Paulo was unhappy with the direction PSDB was taking, and the final straw was Doria’s decision to join her Lieutenant Governor Rodrigo Garcia, a DEM member since the NFL and former secretary of Alcmina. , to PSDB to succeed Palácio dos Bandeirantes. In October, Doria also took assistant Joyce Hasselmann (ex-PSL-SP) to the toucan nest.

For Alkmin, who considered himself a natural successor, there remained a proposal to nominate a candidate for the Chamber of Deputies. Frustrated, he left the party after holding an internal meeting that Doria had won, and began seriously considering becoming vice president on Lula’s ticket.

In October 2021, the União Brasil was announced – a merger between DEM and PSL, to be ratified by TSE in February. The new party will gather today the largest bench in the House, which will include 82 deputies, eight senators and four governors.

It should be the biggest conservative force in Brazilian politics next year when it becomes official.

However, the party does not have a strong name to lead the executive branch at the national level.

Then the former President of the President, Luis Enrique Mandetta, began to change the subject. ACM Neto, president of DEM, should try to elect the government of Bahia, while Luciano Bivar, president of PSL, should remain in the House for Pernambuco.

While one batch is being created, another is being recreated by 2022. Somos, officially launched in 2016 from PTN, sanctified its lavajatista profile already impacted by Alvaro Diaz’s candidacy in the 2018 elections with Sergio Moro and Deltan Dallagnola. …

Former judge and former prosecutor Lava Yato joined them in November and December, respectively. Under the common banner of the fight against corruption, Moro must try to take a seat in Planalto and Dallagnola, in the Federal Chamber, for Parana.

Center left on PSB

In the center-left field, PSB has become one of the main beneficiaries of the change. The party, which is in talks with PT for 2022, has won at least three big names in three different states.

By a joint act, Maranana Governor Flavio Dino (then at PCdoB-MA) and Rio de Janeiro Federal MP Marcelo Freixo (then at PSOL-RJ) joined the acronym in June. In September, the turn of the federal deputy of Sao Paulo Tabata Amarala (ex-PDT-SP) approached them.

Freisho is quoted as running again for the Rio government, while Dino, at the end of his second term, is due to run for the Senate, an option also envisaged by Tabata, depending on the state alliance.

Under the command of former minister Gilberto Cassaba, the SDP is also targeting larger flights in 2022. In October, the party succeeded in joining Senate President Rodrigo Pacheco (MG), then the DEM representative.

If all goes according to plan, Pacheco should run for Planalto under the acronym, while the party targets executive power in other states such as Minas Gerais, with Alexandre Calil, mayor of Belo Horizonte; and Rio de Janeiro with Felipe Santa Cruz, President of the OAB (Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil).

Also in the center left, Rede, who managed to elect five senators in 2018, faced a crush from his bench. In 2018, Alessandro Vieira (SE) joined Cidadania ahead of the runoff after disagreeing with the party’s position that prohibits voting in Bolsonaro.

In 2019, Captain Stevenson (RN) left the party to join the Podemos, which Flavio echoed. Arns (PR) in August this year. Finally, in December 2021, Fabiano Contarato (ES) joined PT. Now only Randolph Rodriguez (AP) is left on the bench.
