In column Straight to the point this Tuesday (11), political scientist Yarismar Pereira assessed the dispute for the state government in the 2nd round between Joao Azevedo (PSB) and Pedro Cunha Lima (PSDB).
According to Yarismar’s analysis, the third-place finisher in the 1st round, Nilvan Ferreira (PL), who intends to run for mayor of Joao Pessoa in 2024, made the mistake of deciding not to support Pedro Cunha Lima in the 2nd round, because if Governor Joao Azevedo will win, he will strengthen the mayor of the capital, Cicero Lucena (PP), who will be a candidate for re-election.
Yarismar also notes that despite the varied support that Pedro Cunha Lima has received, elections in Paraiba are still undecided.
“The second round is someone’s guess. Now those who work harder can get dividends and an advantage. Support will be installed. There is information from important politicians from the outback, which may change. Of course, this is just speculation for now, but I think someone will take the risk of pushing one side and one after the other to be sure. If one loses, the other will be on the other side.”
