The US military found human remains on the landing gear of a military plane hijacked by panicky Afghans at Kabul airport on Monday, the US Air Force, which is investigating the incident, said.

“In addition to online videos and press reports of people falling from the plane during departure, human remains were found on the C-17’s chassis when it landed at Al Udeid Air Force Base in Qatar,” he said. press secretary Anne Stefanek.

“The investigation will be thorough so that we can get all the facts about this tragic incident,” he added in a statement.

The U.S. Air Force will take a look at all of the circulating videos on social media of a C-17 transport aircraft being chased by hundreds of people, some of whom were desperate to hold onto their sides or wheels. Another video showed the same plane flying over Kabul and two people fell out of it.

A spokesman for the US Air Force did not give the total death toll and did not confirm reports that the man was crushed by the wheels of the plane before takeoff.

The C-17 delivered equipment to Kabul for US military reinforcements sent to Afghanistan to support the evacuation of civilians.

On Sunday, the Taliban captured Kabul, ending an offensive that began in May when US and NATO forces began withdrawing.

International forces have been in the country since 2001 as part of a United States-led offensive against the extremist regime (1996-2001) that welcomed Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, mainly responsible for the September 11 attacks, 2001.

The takeover of the capital ended a 20-year foreign military presence in Afghanistan by the United States and its NATO allies, including Portugal.

Faced with the brutality and radical interpretation of Islam inherent in the previous regime, the Taliban assured Afghans that “life, property and honor” would be respected and that women could study and work.

However, chaos erupted at Kabul airport on Monday as many people tried to flee the country.
