Disappeared after an episode in which former MP Artur Mamae Faley committed the crime of persecuting women refugees from the Ukrainian war and was impeached by the São Paulo Assembly by a unanimous vote in the House of Representatives meeting on May 17 last year, Pedro Umbelino recently resurfaced on the political scene San Cayetano. He took part in the controversy of comedian Leo Lins, whose performance at the Santos Dumont Theater was canceled after good-natured criticism from Mayor José Auricchio Junior (PSDB). Umbelino, a member of MBL (Movimento Brasil Livre), walked up to the doors of the theater and also gave a concert together with Lins. In fact, it was he who came up with the idea for a group waiting to see Lins’ show to hold a protest against the cancellation of the show in front of the mayor’s residence.

behind the scenes

Tribute to Mario Covas

Mario Covas Public Hospital, which is completing 21 years of public health service delivery in the Greater ABC region this month, was honored at a commemorative meeting of the Santo André City Council the day before yesterday. The ceremony was hosted by Councilor Edson Sardano. Located in the Paraiso area of the city, this facility is now the largest public hospital in the region and a benchmark for medium to advanced care. More than 1,900 direct employees serve the approximately 7,000 people who pass through the facility every day, including patients, companions and staff.

Underground

Councilor Jander Lira (SDP) used the House podium yesterday to demand that the promised metro line 20-Pink pass through San Cayetano. The congressman was very angry with the São Paulo executive’s official response to one of his demands, stating that the modal vehicle, still in the environmental licensing stage, would only serve Santo André and San Bernardo in Grand ABC. The legislator guarantees that he will demand the inclusion of his municipality directly from the elected governor Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans).
