The US ambassador to Kabul told his officials that four US Marines were killed and three injured in one of today’s bombings at an airport in the Afghan capital, according to the Washington Post.

According to the Washington Post, a US official also confirmed the presence of US soldiers on the list of victims of the bombing at Kabul airport.

Witnesses quoted by Al Jazeera also mentioned four American soldiers on the list of victims of the attack.

Another US official said today that he “definitely believes” that the attack at the Kabul airport was carried out by the Islamic State (EI).

The same source said that US troops were injured in today’s attack, which involved two suicide bombers and gunmen.

ISIS is more radical than the Taliban and has carried out several attacks in Afghanistan over the past few months, killing many civilians.

In a post on Twitter, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby has already stated that it was a terrorist attack with two explosions near the airport in Kabul, confirming the information of witnesses who say several dead and injured.

Kirby also confirmed that some of the victims were American after various media reported more than a dozen deaths and dozens of injuries.
