Two doses of the vaccine will neutralize the Delta variant, a new study says.

ABOUTResearchers at the Pasteur Institute announced this Thursday new evidence supporting the importance of complete vaccinations.

According to research, featured in the scientific journal Nature and cited by AP, laboratory tests of the blood of dozens of people vaccinated with a dose of Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccines have shown that they have “weak inhibition” against the Delta variant.

But within a few weeks of taking the second dose, nearly everyone experienced what the researchers call a spike in immunity strong enough to neutralize the Delta variant.

The researchers also tested unvaccinated infected people and found that their antibodies were four times less effective against this new viral mutation. A single dose of the vaccine dramatically increases antibody levels, inducing cross-protection against the Delta variant and the other two mutations.

These results support the recommendations of the public health authorities to vaccinate infected people.

Recall that a British study showed that, for example, two doses of Pfizer vaccine are 96% effective against hospitalization and 88% effective against symptomatic infection.
