As is usually the case in the news in the automotive world, official photos of the Mégane E-Tech Electric, Renault’s second electric vehicle after Zoe, could not stay out of the public eye until the release date scheduled for the Salon. Munich, Germany. This time, the breakthrough seems to have been initiated by Forococheselectricos, which posted photos and published a series of data on the new French crossover.

The electric Mégane is a key element of Renault’s battery-powered vehicle strategy, as it is the first model from the brand to use a specific CMF-EV platform to maximize value and reduce costs despite the need for higher initial investment, even from an industrial standpoint. …

The French crossover will also be the first to use new, more energy efficient electric motors as well as new batteries, with the Mégane originally offered with packages with a capacity of 40 kWh and 60 kWh, which guarantees 470 km of autonomy with the largest battery.

The Mégane electric crossover currently has only one 215bhp front engine, according to what the manufacturer initially told it that only gives it traction to the front wheels. However, since the Renault crossover uses the same platform as the Nissan Ariya, it is possible that the model could offer versions with two engines, one per axle, for all-wheel drive.

While the Mégane is not overly bulky or at the expense of aerodynamic performance and weight, it is taller than conventional cars and exhibits a certain off-roader vibe. A large digital instrument cluster is visible inside, combined with a large vertical center screen. Unfortunately, the photos do not show the space reserved for the rear seat or trunk.

The Mégane E-Tech Electric will be manufactured in France, and deliveries to consumers are expected in the first half of 2022.
