These are the Portuguese cities with the most expensive and cheapest fuel.

Braga, Santarem and Aveiro had the lowest prices for diesel and gasoline. In turn, Faro, Bragança, Beja and Lisbon had the highest prices, according to the October 2021 Fuel and LPG Market Bulletin issued by the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE).

According to the same bulletin, average diesel and gasoline prices were in line with international prices, increasing 4.4% and 2.2% respectively over the previous month.

Hypermarkets retain the most competitive offerings in road fuel, followed by operators in the low-cost segment, the regulator adds.

In terms of LPG, Bragança, Braga and Vila Real have registered the cheapest LPG cylinder (butane and propane) for mainland Portugal. Coimbra, Setubal and Beja have the highest prices.

Despite the fact that the average prices for 95 gasoline and regular diesel fuel differ little from each other, there are regional differences. In October, the difference in cost between the national average price and the average gasoline price in Portuguese areas.
LPG 95 and LPG are generally higher in Faro, Bragança, Beja and Lisbon counties.

Braga, Santarem and Aveiro are the regions with the cheapest car fuel (gasoline and diesel) on the Portuguese mainland.

Also in Viseu, Castelo Branco and Coimbra, gasoline and diesel prices are lower than the national average.

The difference in average prices per liter of fuel for road use in mainland Portugal is less than 4 cents per liter for both gasoline and diesel.

The Azores and Madeira have a maximum price system for selling unleaded petrol and IO95 diesel for road use to the public.
