According to Phil Spencer, head of Xbox at Microsoft, the current versions of the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X will stay with us for a long time. Speaking on the IGN Unlocked Podcast, the executive talked about the future of hardware, stating, “Nothing comes out next year that would make you feel, ‘Oh, I should have waited.”

“These are consoles that will be on the market for years to come,” Spencer continued. “And we built them with that in mind, and I love the technologies that are in them, and the capabilities, and that’s what we’re focusing on.”

This is a different take on the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X as the Xbox console has gone through many hardware overhauls over the years over the past two generations. Xbox 360 had Xbox 360 Arcade, Elite, Slim and E. Xbox One got Xbox One S, Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital.

But take it easy, we’ll see new Xbox hardware in the future. During E3 2019, Phil Spencer said that the Xbox Series X, when it was still called the Xbox Scarlett, will not be Microsoft’s last console. Additionally, Liz Hamren, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of Gaming and Platforms, said a few weeks ago that the company is already working on new Xbox hardware, but it will take many years to present.
