The Yankees haven’t cut pay or staff leave – not yet

Although the Yankees have much in common with 29 other major league teams – bleeding money due to the coronavirus pandemic that closed the big league baseball on March 12 – they have not cut salaries or staff members thrown like some clubs have.

Yankees staff were told Monday that their salaries would not be deducted and their benefits would continue to be played. How long it lasts has not been determined, but it is possible that the plan runs at least until the end of the month.

In April, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred told the team that he was suspending the Employee Uniform Contract, which allowed the club to reduce staff salaries or full time leave.

While Manfred suggested a move, the team was not required to cut salaries or fake employees.

The Yankees pay staff through June 1, push it to June 15 and extend it on Monday and will monitor the situation every day.

How long the club can continue to avoid salary cuts or staff leave is unknown. An alternative way to save money is to shave off excess in other areas, but that can only go so far.

Of course, the biggest factor is the inability of MLB and the players’ union cannot agree to the requirements to start the season. Manfred said on Monday that he wasn’t sure the season played this year was very different from what he said last week that he was 100 percent sure there would be a game being played.
