In the month of Black Women’s Day celebrations in Latin America and the Caribbean, a network of influential black women will rock the Cedim (State Council for Women’s Rights) in downtown Rio this Friday (22) at 2:00 pm. . The meeting table will be attended by the following figures: Yalorisha Doutora Mae Edelsuita do Oxogian, former flag bearer Babi Cruz, marketing specialist Patricia Diaz, MA student in cultural heritage Cristiana dos Santos, historian Ana Reis, Angolan architect and urban planner Cecilia Marcos, and political consultant Katia Cruz .

For the organizer of the event and editor-in-chief of Revista Ziriguidum Nota 10, journalist Lidia Moraes, the purpose of the meeting is to promote the exchange of life experiences of black women who are aware of their role in society. “I am honored to be the facilitator of a meeting with women who bring important stories of struggle and resistance to their lives. This is an important moment for us to look into the past, the present, to realize our articulations for the future of the country as a black woman on the move in an urban scenario and a quilombola scenario,” Lydia defines.

The event is part of the Rio version of the VI INTERNATIONAL MEETING OF URBAN BLACK WOMEN AND QUILOMBOL held by Associação Protetora dos Desvalidos-SPD on July 22 and 23 in El Salvador. The agreement was approved by a supermajority at a ministerial meeting of member states in Brussels, Belgium, after months of discussions about the best way to contain the rise in natural gas prices in the bloc caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. .

The value set by the countries is well below the proposal made by the European Commission, the EU’s executive body, in November: 275 EUR/MWh. However, the countries leading the cap campaign were in favor of an even lower limit, around 100 EUR/MWh.
