Developed and published by Bandai namco, or RPG Scarlet Nexus has caught my attention since its announcement in 2020. During the Thing’s devastating attack, a phenomenon occurs and the districts of Nova Himuk are divided over what to think of the FSC and its guardians, creating yet another political conflict and changing the character’s story. And then the stories will separate and you will understand the motivation of each character and their friends on each journey.

Amazing gameplay

When choosing a character to launch the game, both Kasane and Yuito go through basic gameplay guides such as jumping, dodging, but mainly on how to use psychokinesis to your advantage by throwing various objects from the stage at enemies, such as poles. , cars, crates, etc. In addition, Yuito has a katana for close range attacks, and Kasane uses throwing knives styled as moths known as “mao kai”. As you progress through the game, you can buy new weapons and improve them with a drone, as well as the appearance of the character. In addition, the player gains experience points that can be exchanged for learning new techniques, which will lead to more damage. It is worth noting that with LB there are stronger powers in addition to the special ones with LB + RB at certain specific points in time.

A big highlight as a weapon is the use of the SAS (weapon control system), allowing you to temporarily borrow the psychic abilities of your group members by connecting your brain to theirs via a virtual cable. With it, you can become invisible, including using pyrotechnic powers. As the relationship with your party members grows stronger, these skills increase and can be combined with other attacks. But how can this relationship get closer?

Friends are our greatest asset

At the end of each main mission, you find yourself in a hideout where you can strengthen your relationship with your group by completing side missions, as well as giving them gifts that can be obtained by exchanging information from certain areas and certain Creatures. By treating a friend or friend, the relationship level will change and new skills will be added to become part of your arsenal. Notably, in the SAS tab, you can also define which tactics your allies will approach, such as leaving two friends as support and two to assist in a direct attack.

More anime and less manga

Before explaining this point, it’s notable that Scarlet Nexus will receive an anime series produced by SUNRISE Inc. and based on the game, which also aired via Funimation since July 1st, is still only in Japan. Some side missions will be revealed and completed using anime codes.

However, the only sin I see in the game is how the story is told. It’s awesome, you see, but because it’s too long and shown as a manga, with no animated cutscenes, it ends up getting a little boring as it takes away the dynamism needed to create even more interest. The credit for the game comes with PT-BR subtitles and Japanese audio for a more immersive experience. Another point to work on further is the fact that there are not many scenarios in the game to explore, and it does not rely on the interaction of objects in the open world. You pass through people and they seem to have no weight. The game world is not that well explored, even with the opportunity to contemplate.

Conclusion

Scarlet Nexus is everything I expected and more. Its story is very intriguing, with twists, betrayals, appearances … everything a Class A manga needs. Thanks to reliable combat and many changes to destroy enemies, the game has a quick tutorial and a skill tree and tweaks that will make you go through the entire stage to exchange information for more stylish sunglasses. The relationship with the characters is a very important part, as it will be possible to learn more about their past, as well as increase the power of their blows.
