the reason Star-Lord is the only playable character

One of the central aspects of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is that, despite the constant cast of characters – Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Drax and Groot – the player will specifically take the place of Star-Lord through which he will make decisions both in battle and and beyond.

It is also a unique single player game, meaning no one controls Rocket, Drax or Groot. According to a recent interview, the studio gave the following rationale for this choice: it all has to do with the idea of putting players in the place of the leader of a group that does not always agree.

Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Drax and Groot all echo the personality. We want players to be at the center of the action. In this regard, the question arose: “What if the players were one of the Guardians?” What if players were leaders and allowed them to make important decisions? What if players had to adapt to unexpected group members’ behavior?“.

Embracing this fantasy of becoming the self-styled leader of a displaced group has allowed us to put forward the concept of choice and consequence. You will have to make decisions that will affect the development of the adventure. Of course, this is the same grand adventure for all players, but the experience depends on the player. Being Star-Lord is truly powerful, exciting and exciting. This is the best way to tell the true story of the Guardian. Many considered it a risky maneuver, but for us it was a very exciting sight.“.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will launch on October 26 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The Switch version is for cloud computing only.

A pre-booking is available with which you can receive a bonus that will bring a set of alternate and nostalgic Guardians’ uniforms.
