Ukraine assures that the special operation to evacuate the Azovstal plant to the besieged Mariupol will begin with the rescue of seriously wounded servicemen and will be carried out in several stages.

“We have started a new round of negotiations on the special operation plan. Let’s start with the seriously injured. The Red Cross and the UN met with the Russians and agreed on a series of talks,” Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk said.

Vereshchuk explained that at present, Azovstal is occupied not only by the fighters of the Azov battalion, but also by soldiers and officers of the Armed Forces, the National Police and border guards. “Everyone needs to be saved,” he said.

Kyiv is conducting “difficult negotiations” with Russia on the evacuation of 38 seriously wounded Ukrainian soldiers from the basement of the Azovstal steel plant. Vereshchuk said yesterday.

“Today [quinta-feira], talk is only about 38 seriously wounded soldiers. We are working in stages,” Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk said in the Telegram messenger, refuting the figure of 500–600 people presented by some media.
