The autopsy also ruled out the possibility of a heart attack and could not draw any conclusions regarding the possibility of drowning.

Examination of the corpse of Fernando Ferreira (Conde), found dead on Rio Avenue on January 22, 2020 after disappearing 14 days ago, does not determine the cause of death. The coroner in charge of the autopsy testified this Monday at the trial of Antonio Silva (Tony) and Hermano Salgado (Mano), accused of beating a 63-year-old electrician to death.

According to the doctor, “the detected foci [no corpo de Fernando Ferreira] cause of death cannot be considered. An autopsy revealed lesions consistent with trauma near the mouth and on the right upper limb. The doctor clarified that these foci arose in the “pre-mortem” period, that is, close to the time of death … the specialist cannot indicate whether they occurred immediately before the death of “Conde” or a few moments later.

It should be remembered that, according to the version of the facts reported by Tony, the electrician would have been “squeezed” at his request, since he was convinced that he had stolen about one hundred thousand euros from his residence, but remained with his life. However, according to this report, the Condé was to run towards the river.

Although water was found in the corpse’s lungs, the forensic examination was unable to conclude that death was due to drowning due to the time the body had been in the water. Analysis of the internal organs also excludes the possibility of a heart attack, the doctor assured the court.

The trial will continue while two SP inspectors are awaiting testimony that could shed light on the appearance of Fernando Ferreira’s car last July near the crime scene. According to the prosecution, this car was supposed to be taken to France by the third defendant in this case, the owner of the stand, Paulo Ribeiro, 50 years old.
