The Lisbon Stock Exchange started trading this Thursday in negative territory. PSI depreciated by 0.31% to 5,769.54 points, nine companies fell, five rose and one remained unchanged (Semapa) compared to last session’s closing price.

The Portuguese market follows the trend observed in the rest of the world, after the President of the North American Federal Reserve System (FRS) Jerome Powell yesterday assured that the rise in interest rates will continue next year. Today, the next meeting of the European Central Bank, from which they expect a new increase in rates and measures related to the purchase of sovereign debt. The Bank of England also holds its last monthly meeting of the year.

Various decisions taken by the monetary authorities promise to affect market trading during the day. Around here, EDP Renováveis ​​(-1.3%) was the company under the most pressure early in the session, followed by Navigator (-1.19%) and CTT (-1.09%), three with losses more than 1%. Among the companies with the largest representation on the Lisbon Stock Exchange, EDP also fell (-0.76%), as did BCP (-0.28%). Galp Energia (0.51%) and Jerónimo Martins (0.29%) are in positive territory. Nos (0.95%) is the company that appreciates the most, but does not reach the 1% mark.
